Could the new Ikon be India's most fuel efficient car? We didn't find out, but we'd sure like to know! Ford Ikon 1.4 DuraTorq TDCi

Excellent review as usual-outstanding night shots(do you use Nikon gear?).

There is nothing to beat the Ikon Diesel-for now(with the VGT Indigo vista waiting in the wings)!

Hi Charles, are you sure that the 1-DIN system is part of the standard offering?

@Binoy: The shots were taken with a D40 and D60. They were taken at dusk and at night because of time constraints. Lol.

A VFM car indeed. Thanks Charles for the lovely review.

@Ankur: the system is an option. Thank you for bringing that to our notice.

Three in the rear seat might be a squeeze. Getting into and out of the rear seat is a breeze,
No such complaints about the boot, however – an airport trip is a breeze
With careful usage of the right foot, 15kpl should be a breeze
Handling at low speeds is a breeze,
breeze freezee looks like a poem

Doesnt seems the New ford Ikon has been a success, I travel nearly 80-90 KM every day (Delhi - Gurgaon), but I hardly get to see any of these new Ikons.

Seems that even the TDCi engine from Fiesta, failed to exite consumers.

Dude, see the area u travel from, u must be seeing a lot of fiesta..... so tht means the customers will prefer to go in for the higher spec fiesta rater then a base ikon for the same engine..... as far as i know ikon diesel is doing good according to reports.... as more customers who were buying smaller hatch backs are preferring to shell out extra to get a car with a boot.... so there you have it why u dont see that many ikons. ikons are particularly doing well in the southern, western and eastern region, taking the market of the D'Zire and Logan. D'zire a overpriced car with cheap maruti bits, the built quality is something that maruti was never known for and logan for its ugly looks.

Good and sensible car no doubt. I was a fan of the 1.6. But, I find it very intriguing when manufacturers especially companies like ford who have been in India for almost 15 years now, omit something as necessary as a remote boot lid opener. The device is so simple and cable operated, nobody is asking for the magnetic or soft touch ones, that attaching one and raising the car price by even 500 rupees, will not be noticed by the buyer. In todays day and age when at every nook and corner in cities, and highway check posts, security or cops asks you to open the boot, how can something like that be omitted... I was put off by this simple feature not being their while shortlisting the Flair 3 years ago cos i imagined myself getting out every-time to open the bootlid come rain or sunshine. Marketing guys at Ford wakeup, its not an list feature but a necessity today. I know many people who shied away from the car bcos of the lack of this feature...including myself. Its not even available as an aftermarket fitment. Mahindra logan launched their car without this feature but promptly added it to their cars 6 months down the line taking customer feedback..!
