hello,

if u will fit a lpg kit in a new car than it will void ur warranty & it is not advisable, if ur car is 1.5-2yrs old than u can do & as maruti 800duo comes with company fited kit, it would be a better buy as it is company fitted so u will have a warranty also & insurance also.

but tell us ur monthly running so that we can suggest u will lpg worth for u or no.

i would not suggest or advice anyone to convert a car such as alto to LPG or CNG , firstly coz waranty is void , 2ndly the cars like Alto , 800 give very good milage , and its simply unnecasy to convert! as the milage in LPG would be 3 kmpl less than petrol and initial fitment woudl cost you around 20k rs! so dotn think its worth it!

all cars save th same percentage of money, on lpg and cng respectively, irrespective of whether th car is an 800 or an alto or an innova or a sonata ................ in other words for example ..... if th savings on cng are say 60% ............ a consumer spending 10,000 pm on petrol wud save 6,000 .......... and a consumer spending 5.000 pm ... wud save 3,000 ............ irrespective of whether his car is an alto or an innova

also these savings are perennial and virtually perpetual ............. in other words .............. u invest only once ............ but reap the benefits of th savings month after month . and year after year, irrespective of which car u own

True.  But Vidhur, I too feel that small cars like M800 & Alto should preferably be driven on Petrol itself, as LPG will reduce its performance/power by 10-15%.  The reduction may, however, vary/differ based on the kit, retrofittment quality (workmanship) & maintenance.

In my opinion, it should be considered for cars having 1 litre engine (or more), as, though the reduction in performance/power is same, it is felt less.

Hi,
I purchased Maruti Alto (Std BS III) in July, 2005 and fitted with LPG kit very next month. It has been more than 3+ yrs now. When I fitted kit, it cost me Rs.18,000 for BRC and cost of LPG was Rs22 per Lit and Petrol was around Rs43 (not sure).
Here are few of my observations:
1/ After three yrs price of LPG is now almost Rs.35.70 (in Pune).
2/ I am getting 11-12 kms/lit with LPG and 18-19kms/lit with Petrol with frequent use of AC. (Now petrol cost is Rs.53.5 per lit in Pune).
3/ When I drive with LPG, vibrations are increased over the period of time. (Quite obvious)
