I wanted to buy sedan as my first car and researched a lot final conclusion was Fiat Linea. After i finalized the car i realized that my pocket is allowing me to go for it but somehow i have to manage my daily living at neck break point. Salary is less I would be spending 7.5 lakh rupees for a sedan which would give me an average of 10-11 Km/ltr. My daily running is around 70km it will empty my pocket very soon. If i go for diesel version it would cost me 8.5 Lakh both top end versions. I love to drive but cannot be fool and just buy for the sake of it.

My wifey is really angry that i have decided not to buy as i feel this is not the right time for it. Maybe after 5 years then i will go for a sedan.

Now my current status:

After all the research on hatchback i have decided to go with Ritz. Wifey has stopped talking when i said no to linea and yes to Ritz. Her words "I won’t sit on that odd looking car". I am trying to convince her by showing Overdrive video about the ladak trip on 9 cars they selected of which Ritz won. You tube: search with Overdrive Ritz it would show you. By the way it was of no use as wify just hating Ritz.

Took the test ride of Ritz and i liked it engine was super silent ride was nice and overall looked a nice car.

Now i am in dilemma should i go for Ritz VDI or VXI. Price difference is about 20K, plus in VDI i have to spend around 20K more on ICE and security system. Daily running is around 70km.

What say guys?

Try the new Beat from GM, its a beautiful car with new fresh looks. Take your better half ( wife ) to test drive the car, she will love the car. The ladak trip undertaken with Ritz can also be done with  Beat, that's not the point the actual point is, always buy the car in which you feel comfortable, and that the car's driving style suits your driving style and that you don't have to adjust yourself everytime you sit inside the car.

Both the cars have their own style and they have their own charm. Both the cars perform very nicely. Afterall, buying a car is a very important decision which you have take very responsibly, as you have to live with the car for a good number of years.

I would suggest you to go for Dzire VDi or Icon Diesel if you can afford it. Should cost around 6.5 for Dzire and around 5.8 for Icon. Both have exceptional fuel efficiency and running cost should be very low.

If you want to go for hatchback then go for either Swift VDi (5.4 lacs) or Vista quadrajet. Both are better than the Ritz in my opinion.

Ritz and Swift share the same engine but is visually more appealing and wifey should not have any problem with that I suppose.

Hi Rahul,

As you said, the price difference between Ritz VDI or Ritz ZXI is 20K + 20K for additional accessories on Ritz VDI. So, this additional 40K will get recovered in less than years time considering your daily running of 70KM. Plus Maruti is giving some discounts on Ritz VDI (which are not available on Ritz ZXI).

So, I would suggest you to go for Ritz VDI as it will be benefital for you in long run. It's really great car, you will love it. Tell your wife that you can not see the so called "odd" shape once you are inside the car, so just don't feel bad about the shape, but enjoy the lovely ride

@Rahul

Class and charm seem to sit well with 'wifey'. Check the soon to be launched Polo, should be a hoot to drive, sips diesel and even more that budget will surely welcome the same.

I want to stick with Ritz as its new, Swift is now very common. Dzire has 3 months waiting in delhi.

Punto D is around 6 lakh and not sure about the mileage.

rahul, once thing is for sure with 70km daily run, you would need a diesel car. As binoy mentioned if you can hold on to a couple of months then you surely would love VW polo. You can also look for i20 diesel which again would be within 8L.

Car is no longer a luxury; parking space and now petrol is !

If you are giving importance for Safety then go for ZXi, and remember, nothing is important than life.

Go for Ritz VDi then if you are okay with the looks. It is the most practical choice in the price category. Fuel efficiency should be great and Maruti ASS should not dissappoint you.

@ Rahul,

As per your usage a diesel car will be the most preferable. If youe wife doesnot like Ritz than you have one more option that is the younger brother of Linea the Fiat Grande Punto. It also looks smashing as a Linea & has very good performance & ride quality. It also has the same engine of Ritz diesel & is much better car.
