> What is the best possible route we can take
> How will be the roads on these route
> Is it a hilly region? Can i take my Alto up there or book an cab & just enjoy the trip?

Thanks in Advance,

Hi Jey,

Last weekend I did this route till Calicut. See this thread and Route Map till Thamarassery.

The quick and good route would be NH 212, Mysore, Gundalpet, Mutanga, Sultan Battery.

Approximately Sultan Battery is 120 Km from Mysore. First 20Km till Nenjangudu road is bad or average, after that road is very good and scenic. You can do this stretch in 2 hours. But its scenic drive through forest, so go slow and enjoy the drive. There are no hilly roads except 30 km ghat section after Vythiri. Go by your alto only, its super route for a drive. Please remember the Karnataka border is closed at night 9pm tp 6 am, plan the trip accordingly, the traffic is also more because of this night traffic ban.

Thanks Gerald & Bijs for quickie.

What all good place to see in Waynad District? It will be more of a leisure trip. So tend not to roam around so much. So few very good places should do.

Yes. I saw one Alto on the last pic of Gerald's link. So will go by my own.

Hi Jey,

I haven't visited much places around Waynad. Visited Edakkal caves once. It's a nice place to visit, but more of a trekking spot. Apart from that, I heard Kuruva islands is a great picnic spot, which i'm planning for a future trip. But its has to be a day trip, as it's little inside. Pookot Lake is on the way and it's a nice spot to have a break. Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary is also on the way. Then there is one Soojipara falls, but I've not visited.

See the wayand map

Hope this helps.

Update:-

I didnt travel to Wayanad as planned earlier. Instead had been to Yelagiri hills (approx 160kms from Bangalore) for 2 days. Will create a thread with pics about the travel experience soon.
