Hello Everyone,

God knows what is happening to my new car but in around 2 and a half months I have already suffered a lot.

It has got scratches, dents, AC is giving strange smell and now today someone has hit it with a stone and has made a spider legs looking crack in its windshield. Its size is around 2-3 inches in diameter. I am blaming it to some person as this has happened while my car was parked. In fact every single problem has happened to my parked car only. Not even a single problem was my mistake.

Well I enquired about this with the insurance company, and they may provide the claim. They are saying that 100% claim will be given in case of my glass. But as I asked my hyundai engineer about this, he told me that glass will be covered in insurance but plastic parts like Sealing Kit, Dam and Moulding (m not sure about the names) u will have to buy.

Is it possible that for this, old parts are used. Moulding I guess can be used again. Also the insurance executive said that it depends on the workshop you are going to. Whether they use the old parts or they dont.

Can you guys help me in this and give me some good suggestions for the whole procedure like you have always given.

Thanks
Gaurav

Please don't go for old parts.  Insurance Company will reimburse 50% for rubber/plastic etc. - you bear the rest. For glass & labour, it will reimburse 100%.

Ohh thanks for the prompt reply pankaj.. I will take care of that.. But their executive told me that I have to buy moulding etc. I mean I have to bear that expense.

Please confirm whether its 50% will be reimbursed or not.

All parts are covered under insurance - though the reimbursement may differ.  Molding parts being of rubber, 50% should be reimbursed.  If refused, asked for terms/conditions wherein it has been restricted upon.  I have not come across / never read any such restriction until now.

As already mentioned by Pankaj, all the parts covered under insurance.

In your case, you will get 100% for the glass but you have to pay the pasting amount. In our Fiesta's case, we paid 1100/- for the same. This is for your info.

Check out with Hyundai Service centre.

Pasting amount?

Cost of pasting chemical/glue is reimbursed 50% by treating it at par with plastic/rubber items. Labour (any) would be reimbursed 100%.

Here Pankaj is right. I asked in the insurance company. They said that 100% will be reimbursed for the glass and 50% will be reimbursed for moulding etc the rate of which in Hyundai is Rs.1500. So I guess I have to pay now Rs.500 (as a fee to insurance company) + Rs.750 appros (for 50% of moulding etc).

@Sunny - Can you please explain this windshield experts thing a bit. I didnt get it exactly. Whats the procedure? Who are these people?

windshield experts is a company which has tie ups with insurance companies, when you go to them they themselves take fotos & do the needful to change the glass. They take the claim cheque in their name thus saving your headache. Most of the time all this is done in front of you.You can have their number from their website or from justdialWink
