Is there an Entry Tax for new cars in UP ?

I wanted to know if there is an Entry Tax (or octroi) if I buy a new car from another state & bring it into Uttar Pradesh for permanent registration .

If there is, then how much is it ?

Sorry, I'm not aware whether UP has Octroi/Entry tax or not.  But would just like to mention/clarify (you may be aware)... RTO Tax, Road/Municipal Tax, Octroi/Entry Tax etc. will all be payable as applicable (whatever) at the place of registration.

Yes, road tax will have to be paid at 5%, that I am aware of. But, what I wanted to know is whether there is any entry tax applicable on new cars besides this ?

I got confused because your query (post 1) somehow sounded to me that... will the octroi applicable in UP be also applicable to cars bought from another state?

I hope someone is able to post whether Octroi is applicable in UP or not (if yes, it will be applicable to all cars registered in UP - whether bought from UP or outside).
