I want to take my maruti car to Gujarat from Andhra Pradesh for a shorter period of 3 to 6 months on tour and it will bw taken back to Andhra Pradesh.  In this regard I want to know whether any road tax or other taxes, if any, have to be paid in Gujarat.  Mt car is 19 months old. can you clarify on this and help me.

Thanking you.

There is no restriction/tax on touring other states.  Toll charges etc., as applicable, will be payable.  Do keep all necessary documents/papers (RC Book, License, Insurance, PUC) up-to-date in the car.  Carry originals (retain photocopies at home - for safety).

By the way, if your car has sunfilms installed, hope they are transparent enough as per RTO rules (here in Gujarat traffic police are quite strict).

I don't think there is any time restriction.  But do carry necessary evidence/s for the same - that you are touring.

Please be informal - do not suffix ji etc. to names Smile

Provision for accepting 1-year tax isn't there.  Even for temp. relocation not exceeding 1 year, life-time tax is payable & refundable on pro-rata basis (cumbersome job) while relocating back within a year.

As discussed before, there should not be any problem while touring. Keep the papers etc. in order & updated.

well am not very sure.

i heard you cannot prolong your stay in other state for more than 3 months.and if you are crossing over to other state you have to show some proof that you were not in that state beyond 3 months.normaly people carry the bill (ptrol/diesel) from the last pumping station before crossing over.

well i also wanted to know the rules and regulations regarding other state stay in deep.hope to know more.

Temporary relocation is generally not permitted beyond 3 months without payment of tax (whatever).

Touring is different & could be more than 3 months.  Evidences can be preserved & provided of different places visited (stay/hotel receipts, toll receipts, fuel bills, other receipts etc.).
