Hi

I never thought i would buy a Fiat or suggest one?

But i went ahead and booked one?

What is the reason the Fiat user bought Fiat (Punto or linea)?

My reasons

  • Looks
  • Diesel heart

Damn i can only think of the above two reasons?

I was planning to buy a I20 magna but went ahead and booked Emotion Pk?Imagine that!

I was very indecisive when planning for I20 Magna?

I am to buy the Polo diesel next year for myself! Now i have decided that i would steal away the Family car Punto for myself now so that no one else drives it?

well,i bought a FIAT LINEA,for it's badge, such is the trust i have in a fiat product,i bought the car with out even a test drive, leave alone a TD,i bought my car with out even having a proper look at it,(i test drove a linea, only after purchase!Cool)my trust was not misplaced and am 200% happy and my choise is certainly justified,no other manufacturer offers a sub 10 l rs car with such a solid build and ride(did you read in AUTOCAR forum that a newly purchased linea just out of the showroom met with a major accident-total damage,a lorry laden with granites collided with the cara, all the granites fell over linea, but all the three occupents came out unscated,so pleased was the owner that he booked another LINEA all over again),so i think the other buyers too buy a fiat product for its build, ride, engine and of course style and looksSmile

The number for Fiat are still looking up for Fiat!

Being a Fiat owner previouly, i guess there is a certain charm associated with their cars, this pulls in the loyalists.

The sales figures of Fiat certainly have to improve.

As of july for every single punto that is sold there are 10 i10's and 9 swifts(approximations) that are sold.

For the Linea- for every Linea that is sold there are 8 Dzires that are sold.

I booked a Fiat Linea 1.4 l petrol Emotion Pack Medium Grey with Concorde Motors, Dairy Circle, Bangalore on 16.9.2009.  Earlier, I had extensive test-drives of Linea [thrice], SX4 [twice] and ANHC.  After examining pros and cons of these three automobiles, I decided in favour of Fiat Linea since it satisfies my requirements.  The delivery is expected within 2 weeks. In fact, I did not succumb to the massive discount of Rs 62.5 k and mouth-watering freebies including reverse parking sensors offered by a Maruti Suzuki dealer.  In case of ANHC, the on road price of VMT version was over Rs 10.61 lac but does not have climate control, rear aircon vent, spare alloy wheel [only spare steel wheel, I was told] which made me ANHC unattractive even though it has powerful, silky smooth and yet fuel efficient engine under its hood.

Numbers do tell a good tale, but there is another tale of maturity as well. Unfortunately, for Fiat, they will need to undo all the bad work that their partners did in India (read Padmini) and then start doing the good work. That is not the case with Maruti. So this is going to take time and will be a thing of maturity for Fiat, its partners and its dealers. I think this is an extremely good beginning and they just have to keep up the good work.

Like somebody mentioned, if Punto was being sold / marketed by Maruti, there would have been a waiting a waiting period of 6 months!! That sums it all about a Fiat product and (lack of??) trust with a Fiat relationship.

Cheers,
Naveen
