Hello friends,

I was looking for new car but I got a very good deals of Punto 1.4 Emotion pack. But I am confused going for 2nd hand car. The car is 1 month old, total running is 1600 km, the owner is quoting 4.75 as final price (new car price 6.4 lakh)

Please suggest me the things which I should verify before finalizing the deal.

Right now I am in San Francisco and will be coming to India on next saturday, I have asked him to hold the car. One of my friend got to know about the car from Tata Dealer only.

Please advice. Pros/Cons/Risk

i am using ford fusion tdci since from 2 years, before that i was using maruti zen petrol it was very smooth to drive i like to enjoy driving in that car.But my question is in fusion tdci its pick-up is verylow & i have to keep on changing the gear in bangalore traffic,its maintenance is very high.So i request u to give some tips for buying diesel cars in future because i am already confused in petrol/diesel my daily running in city is 60-75kms & long drive is 500-700kms & also i need legroom comfort because my ht.5.11".which car would u suggest me?

I am planning to buy a 2006 TATA Safari VX 4x4, It has 36,500 kms and the person selling is second owner, I had it checked with mechanic and he says vehicle is in good condition, can anyone tell me what is the best price i can pay, the person selling is asking 5.5 lks.

Also i heard lot of bad reviews of owning safari and my freinds are also against it complaining it as a high maintainence vehicle, Can anyone give suggestions on the price to pay and things to look forward after owning a safari. thanks in advance.

I Want to go for either indigo cs diesel or CNG fitted wanonR/sentro car. my daily travel is about 30-35 kms. And I have budget of Rs. 2.5L

kindly suggest me a suitable car.

Best sedan to choose from the shortlisted onces

Hi All
I need your advise on buying a new car currently i drive a Swift LXI petrol car which is good. Iam contemplating on buying a sedan. I like the New SX4 Petrol and i have also shortlisted Ford fiesta diesel 1.6, Iam also looking at the honda city & finally the fiat Lineia. Iam also aware that the SX4 diseiel is an upcoming new car and i presume it would have the fiat 1.6 diesel engine. Iam looking for a car which gives me good fuel efficiency, Power, good handling and ride quality, good built quality & good performance, good maintenance cost, safety, comfort. Please do recommend a good car for me from the above listed. I can speand up to 7 lakhs to 8lakhs being the upper limit. I drive around 16 KM a day. Iam in no rush and i dont mind waiting for the new SX4 diesiel provided it meets all the criteria's iam looking for or anyother good sedan which within 8 Lakhs. I would however wait for the opinion of experts. Which car would be the bets choice?

New Sedan car / Used Scorpio

Hi Folks

I am following this forum recently and you guys are doing a fantastic job.

I am in a dilemma whether to buy a new sedan car (Hyundai accent or Ford Ikon or Mahindra Logan or Maruti Dzire) or an used Mahindra Scorpio. My budget is 5 lakhs (can stretch upto 5.5L) and I expect to drive around 1500 kms per month (mostly in city). To be frank I have zero knowledge about four wheeler. So I feel its better you guys advice me on choosing a right one.

FYI, this is my first four wheeler. In 2004, I took some driving classes (ambassador car) and successfully passed the test in first attempt :). I am planning to take some driving classes before I purchase a new one or if I am buying a used one may be I could hire someone and learn using that car.

Coming back to my dilemma, I have a huge crush on Scorpio. I feel it looks manly and suit my personality (I am 6'3 tall). I dont know whether its advisable to buy a used one since I wont be able to judge the condition of the vehicle.

On the other hand I feel new sedan car would fit in my budget and only decision I have to make is to decide the right one. I dont know whether I can sit comfortably considering my height? If you advice me to buy a new sedan car then please help me to choose the right one.

Out of curiosity I would like to know whether its common for people to drive Scorpio for work.

Want a car for city driving and long distance trips

Hi,

My friend who is an NRI in Dubai wants to buy a car for the following purpose. When he is not in India, his aged father in Mumbai will use it for local commutes averaging about 500 kms a month. When he is in India, which is about twice a year, he wants to use the car to take family trips to his village near Asansol/Kalcotta/WB where they hail from. I think he would run about 4500 kms each trip with all five members of his family (he, father, wife and two teennage boys). So that would be 9000 kms , ie 750 kms per month on highway.

He has asked me to recommend a car for about 4.5 laks and I told him to buy the new Estilo. But he is of the opinion that Estilo is a tad too dainty and feminine. I think the reputation of the old model has spilled over to the new Estilo. I tried the recommed-a-car feature in carwale but the results are so many, it is confusing me more.

So, friends can you suggest a suitable alternative. The criteria would be something like this:

Easy for his father to drive in Mumbai.
Good after sales service as his father will have to take it for regular servicing and during trips to Bengal, service stations should be available.
On road price shouldnt exceed say 5.00 laks
Not too much worried about resale cost.
ABS is a must while airbags are preferable. Safety is important.
Need not be the best performer but should have good milegae and low maintenance.
Should be comfy and spacious inside as his two boys are quite hefty and tall.
Should have decent Value for Money.

His main consideration is that while not spending too much money he can make use of a car while on trips to India to go to his native place. Currently, after he lands in Mumbai, they hire a diesel car with driver and end up spending something like 40-50K per trip. So if he buys a car, his father can use it in Mumbai while allowing him to save on car hire. Besides, it always so much more convenient to have your own wheels rather than depending on somebody.

Teflon coating

I am getting my Linea delivered this sunday. My dealer has promised me that he will have a teflon coating in my car. He is also saying, he will not give any warranty card etc. I am little worried that he is trying to cheat me. Is there any way that I can check if teflon coating is present or not?

Things to do, precaution, checklist while taking delivery of new vehicle

Hi guys, I am expecting delivery in 3 days of my new first vehicle.

Please guide me on what precautions I should take while taking delivery of vehicle.

Anything important that should be done while checking vehicle?

If god forbid there is any minor problem with vehicle, which I hope should not be there , should I refuse delivery or what is the procedure to be followed, should I wait till they rectify that problem there itself?

Also should I call up sales guy and tell him not to put any sticker or dealer name on the name plate?

Because he has not given any discount, but also if car is going for servicing will he give better service if I allow his dealers name on vehicle?

Also I read somewhere that small gift should be given to salesman? What exactly constitutes a small gift.

Anything else I should take care of while taking delivery?

Hi All, I am looking for a new car by April 2010 – Watching the current economical recession, Polo and Figo :-)

My on road budget is 8 lakhs only, where I need a Diesel, ABS & Airbags and a Good boot space – so thinking a dzire now – also Maruti service chain is an another attraction.

Can I expect some more modification on Dzire by that time? Especially the interiors and the front look? – As it is completing 2 years and the tough completion from other vendors will make Maruti to think about in this angle?
