Suggest me for used car

Hi Everyone,

I am planning to buy used car. I have done comfortable research over the web. But I felt those who are all aware of the car very well can guide me in right direction. I have draft the requirement as below. I kindly request you to guide me to go-ahead.

Budget - 2 L - 3 L

Preferred car: Ford / Accent / Lancer / Honda City

Usage: In City: 600 KM, In Highway: 1200 – Per Month

However I am planning to buy the car in Bangalore. I kindly request moderators who are all in Bangalore, kindly suggest me the info related to where I can find used car dealers with genuine and reasonable price.

The What, Why & Which of Car Tyres!!

I was always looking out for a good website which could provide enough information for a layman or a prospective car buyer so that one could understand how & why tyres are very important for goor performance of a car. Wider profile, higher profile, lower profile, run-flat tyres etc etc. The list is endless when one is looking forward to change the car tyres or select tyres for their new car.

Well i stumbled across this website (Bridgestone organized) and found it very easy to get info on:

What is a tyre? What is it's structure
How to read tyre sidewall
Designations of various tyres
Tyre types and their benefits
Which one suits best for my car

I am sure anyone wanting to know more about tyres could have look at this link and get what he wants. More importantly thie website also provides information of which tyre would suit our Indian car the most. Also there are some tyre care tips mentioned which i found very informative.

This is not the only website which could provide information on tyres. And this definitely is not a promotion for Bridgestone tyres!!

However i found this website very good as it provides good tools to find which tyre suits our car best. And we could search by car, by size and by pattern. For e.g. i found that for my Indigo LX the tyre recommended is "175/65R14 82T". I checked the same for Hyundai Verna CRDi SX and the recommended tyres was "185/60R14 82H". The options for the recommended tyres is also listed.

Fiesta R14 or R15 & Music system

I'm going for a Fiesta zxi version, which comes with R14 tyres. Is it advisable to go for R15?

Is it advisable to go for alloy wheels if I change to R15?

Extra Headlights for Maruti Zen

Hi Friends
I am in Noida....I got a Zen VXi in Dec.2007... Though the car is performing well.. but one thing i am finding really strange is the headlights.. it seems the headlights are becoming dimmer and dimmer day by day.. !! i am planning to install extra lights.. (those 2 or 4 halogen lights we install over the roof)... do u guys think it is a good idea.. as far as look is concrnd, i personally find them quite kool and sporty... other than that, are thre any issues...
also, wat things shud i remembr while i go for those extra lights...

plz suggest !!!

i am wanting to buy ford fusion car or othrwise i will want to take a swift only but i am dont know how to buy which one.

also i want to take a car loan for any of the banks available. but i am not knowing if they will give it. i am having 4 lakhs from 5 years as it is a savings but i want 2 more lakhs. how to get it? will this bank give it? i am not having anything for pledging to take loan against which i can take loan. No own house or wealth or gold ornaments or stocks. i only have my software job. pls to kindly suggest me as how i can take this loan from any banks that are available

I am talking about the software. How friendly is it? It's high time that we discussed the improvable areas. Let's start it again and I'll make sure that we have a very friendly software. Kindly share any kind of difficulty you face. It may include:

1. Difficulty in terms of posting, replying or starting a discussion?
2. Difficulty in terms of reading the posts, searching for something?
3. Forum categories are not proper? Need to be restructured? Need to have more categories?

It's no secret that used SUV prices have been collapsing as gas prices have shot up. But now prices are dropping for used crossover SUVs, which get better mileage, but are still thirstier than cars.

Some of these crossovers -- SUV-like vehicles with smaller engines and car-like engineering -- have been on the market long enough so that redesigned versions are out. That also means big discounts on the old versions.

We worked with analysts at Kelley Blue Book to find a few gems that this pricing drop has unearthed. If you're in the market, this could be a great time to pick-up a relatively fuel-efficient used crossover.

Check out the Mercedes-Benz R-class. In just the past 6 months, values have dropped by $6,275. That reflects the trouble the R-class has had finding its niche in the American SUV market.

"There has been such a proliferation of vehicles in the Mercedes-Benz line-up that the R-class has taken a hit," said Jack Nerad, managing editor of Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com Web site.

Longer and lower than its close relative, the M-class SUV, the R-class looks a lot like a minivan with van-like spaciousness. But inside you'll find the opulence you expect in a Mercedes-Benz SUV.

When BMW engineered the X5, the automaker didn't want to damage its legendary reputation for driving enjoyment. The X5 manages to keep BMW's brand character unblemished with decent interior space and practicality to boot.

Besides the general decline in crossover values, the X5's price plummet probably has something to do with the recent introduction of a newer, more powerful version.

The introduction of a redesigned vehicle almost always leads to a steep drop in the value of used versions of any given model, which has created a real buying opportunity here.

I am planning to buy a used car within the budget of 3-4 lakhs. I don't intend to use the car much and would be mostly using it over the weekends to take my family (4 members including me) out. So most of the driving would be around 500-700 kms per month including city and highway, mostly city. I went through the carwale listings of used cars and shortlisted the below 3:
1. 2004 Hyundai Elantra at 4.65 lakhs
2. 2000 Mitsubishi Lancer 1.5 SLXI at 3.2 lakhs
3. 2006 Indigo LX at 4.2 Lakhs

All these cars are listed in Bangalore. Can you please suggest which is a better deal, if not the best, considering the vehicles are in good condition and all documents are in place?
Also, can you suggest any other car in my budget with the below requirement?
1. Budget 3 to 4 lakhs
2. Max driving per month 700kms
3. Maximum people getting on the car: 4
4. Equal city and highway driving.
5. Low maintenance.
6. Decent mileage (10-12 kmpl ) would do.

Database of lost/found or stolen cars

Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone is aware of any site that has database of lost/found or stolen cars in India. Not sure if RTO or Police department maintains any such database. It would be so nice to have one if it doesn't exist. Those whose vehicle has been stolen can at least go there and check if it has been found in some state. Also second hand buyers can know if they are buying any stolen vehicle.
Any takers to initiate this project ?

this is manish , i have hyundai accent 2001 gvs model and now i want fit cng kit in my car, car driven 60000 km , i had confirmed to some fittment centr and i m little confused some dealer told me tomasto kit is better and some dealer are saying its argentina kit and its not succesfull and go with ittalian like vedini and lovato, so pls advise me which kit is better, and whats use of lamda ...

BMW’s annual re-jig of its model range means there is more excitement and more features for those of you looking for a car in the 5 Series luxury car range.
Now the largest-selling car in its class, with a 54 percent market share, it says a lot about BMW that its model is selling more than the well-established Merc E-Class. Customers looking to get a new 5 will now have the choice of a couple of new diesel models. There’s a new base 520d, with the 320d’s four-cylinder diesel motor under the bonnet. It makes 177bhp, 21bhp more than the 3 Series. However, intelligent engineering means you never feel that the car is underpowered. Far from it. The 520d’s generous 35.67kgm of torque propels it smartly forward and acceleration is actually quite strong. If you are chauffeur-driven and occasionally take the wheel, this is more than sufficient to get the job done. However, as this is a luxury car that delivers more of everything — comfort, luxury and quality — it’s only natural that you will want more power at this price.

Enter the 530d, BMW’s 235bhp, 50.96kgm rocketship. Basically the 525d motor with 44 more horses under the hood, the 530d takes a good thing and makes it even better. Briging bike From Faridabad to Hyderabad

Hi I am having a CD Deluxe model 2006. I bought it in around 36k and I want to bring my vehicle to Hyderabad now. As soon as i know the process is

1. To get NOC from RTO Faridabad.

2. Submit that NOC to Hyderabad RTO along wid some road tax on the purchase price of bike.

How much wud that process cost? Should I take help of an agent as I dont have much time and work from 9 to 8 (mon-fri).

As the market value wud be around 20k for the bike, Is it a good option tp bring my bike and spend that much amount as given (approximate idea)?

2000 (Transport)+3000(Road tax)+ Re-registration etc..

Please help me and advise me the best option.
