Hi,

I purchased spark LT 1 month back. I learnt car driving in a Driving school before i buy the car.

Now i am comfortable with the car.

I want to know one thing. What is the ideal(economy) gear shift for SPARK?Right now i am driving like below:

1st gear: 1-10 km

2nd gear: 10-20 km

3rd gear 30-40km

4rh gear: 40 - 60

5th gear: 60 above

Till now I did n't cross 50km per hour, as i am new to driving and sales guy told me not to drive above 60 till the 1st service.

Should i follow same like above? Please let me know. I did n't find instructions like this in user manual.

Thanks.

Hi...

There is nothing called as particular speed for gear change... depends on how you adjust to the gear changing....you will have the feel soon... By the way where did u buy the Spark LT from in Bangalore.. How is the car.. How much did u pay and what are the freebies you go along with the car...You can go above 60 not an issue.. try to go not above 80

Sunmanth,ya there is no in book speeds for changing to a particular gear but one can follow these kind of shifting for better/good FE.

Balabharat, the gear shift speed at particular gear you have given is ideal(in genral) for good fuel economy, but try to shift to 5th at 50-55kmph for better FE.

It is better if you don't cross 60-70 kmph and not rev hard before the first service.

Also look how to save fuel

It is what we think we know already that often prevents us from learning.

Change to 2nd gear as soon as car moves. At around 20 kmph chagne to 3rd. 30 to 35 kmph change to 4th. 40 - 45 change to 5th. Go easy on the Accelerator. Do not revup engine is neutral or with clutch pressed. This holds good for brand new as well as well driven cars. Before first service -  drive between 50 to 80 in regular intervals whever you can (safety first) i.e. drive at 50 for few 2 to 3 minutes and graually increase to 80 and stay there for 2 to 3 minutes and then gradually reduce to 50. Eventhough you are new to driving, never drive the car always in very low speed.

Good Luck! Drive Safe.
