I dont know why you have selected a car which has so many problems, my impression is that you should have bought a Japanese car like Toyota or Honda. Swift is also one of the best cars now on Indian Roads. My friend has this Punto, and he has encountered a lot of problems with this one. Best Luck.

No my dear, I have no regrets on my choice. I do not consider Swift any near to the Italian supershot. However, since its my new car, I have many apprehensions and the door handle tightness could be an isolated problem. Looks and the driving comfort of this car actually offsets many different semantic issues which a naive man like me could encounter!

Well, what I feel is depite of looks and comfort, you also need to see for it safety features, How many SRS bags are there? Please dont take it by heart, that was my opinion, i feel that Italian technology has become quite obsolete.

Which car in the segment or even 2 segments above has more than 2 airbags?

The build quality of the Punto is much much better as compared to the fragile honda and toyota cars IMO. You try fisting a City and a Punto with equal force, you ll see the difference yourself.

Not that im saying that its the best car alive, but its THE BEST in the segment as of now IMO.

You think that the following Italian car makers are obsolete?

Abarth
Alfa Romeo
B. Engineering
DR Motor Company
Bertone
Ferrari
Fiat
Fornasari
Grecav
Iveco
Lamborghini
Lancia
Maserati
Pagani
Pininfarina

They are one of the best in the world!

Second thing - there are wide slits (gaps) on the sides in the boot door when closed; the gap is almost such that my index finger fixes in it. Is it some anomaly or that much 'play' is actually needed there?

Can you post pictures of this? Sounds like a simple alignment issue.

i feel that Italian technology has become quite obsolete.

Yea that's why majority of cars in India and abroad are running on the outdated Multijet diesel engine.

The disc brakes are commonly made from cast iron and a certain amount of what is known as "surface rust" is normal. The disc contact area for the brake pads will be kept clean by regular use, but a vehicle that is stored for some time(e.g. a new car at dealership) can develop Flash Rust.

Indicative of the name, Flash Rusting, is Rusting that occurs very quickly. Within minutes or hours. As opposed to months or years.

All this is completely harmless as it just a surface phenomenon.
