Hello, my name is Ahmed and I am a Faculty at the Central University, Hyd. I booked a silver colored Punto 1.3 Active on Oct 26 in Autofin Ltd. Now the dealer is insisting for me to accept a Red colored one citing reasons that silver is not available even in the plant! Prior to booking, he did not tell me all this. Isn't it an unfair job on the part of Autofin? Any way I told him to try and I am ready to wait for as much time as possible. I ranged to FIAT helpline and enquired, but they say they don't have any aknowledge of such a shortage.

Hi Dr.

Here's my exp. when I bought my first car Indica V2 was from Autofin (Near Paradise), sometime in 2003.

Since it was my first car I was pretty much excited and even nervous, didn't have any experience to deal as it was my first time. They didn't gave me option to even finalize the car I want. They just brought one car to showroom and since it was my first time I just got excited and accepted it w/o any survey in evening hrs.

Although there was no any engine prob or any other technical issue found later, but came across different color shade on bonnet which was not visible on first glance but if someone look at it from certain angel one could easily make out. But frm my end it was too late. Seems those guys deliberatly handed over me vehicle in evening hrs.

The point I'm trying to make is, don't accept the offer. May be they wanna take out one of the damaged car which they might have re-painted it and wanna get rid of.

What you did is right, keep company official in loop and get car of your choice.

Wish you all the best!

Dr. Niyaz,

What the dealer is saying is incorrect. Silver is one of the fastest moving colors and is produced than the red and the blue ones. Please do not change your position if you like the Silver one.

I would suggest you can write to Fiat and ask them to give their opinions giving them all the relevant information as to what the dealer is suggesting.

Cheers,
Naveen

Thank you Sandeep and Naveen. I will be rigid and will not succumb to the tactics. However, the dealer now says that the prices are not granteed after 3 November because the policy to dole out discounts etc keep changing each month. He offered me Punto Active Multijet 1.3 Silver at Rs. 534700/- on road Secunderabad. So I am patiently waiting what comes to my share: already AP Government has increased Life Tax by 3% from today (total 12% now for the first vehicle). However, I am hopeful that the dealer will not change his offer figure in view of the higher tax that I will now be paying. One week passed after booking was made. Another dealer, Concorde says, in any case the model of your preferred color should not take more than 10 working days to deliver although even they do not have minimal grey in stock for 1.3 active.

I am hopeful that the dealer will not change his offer figure in view of the higher tax that I will now be paying.

This may not be possible as the price of the car will be determined on the day of billing.

I agree that the price will be calculated on the day of billing. However, when the dealer sees that the financier has readied the check in their name and the customer is ready to take delivery in any case, he may not be that inclined to yield during fresh negotiations. Any tricks, or experience of this sort? Anyone, please help.
