VW declare WAR over Superhatches

I just picked up Autocar magazine and guess what the issue special is?

Vw will launch the Polo at a whooping starting price 4lakhs.Due 2 the poor sale of skoda high price

It will be avaliable with 1.2 petrol and 1.2 diesel.

VW wants 2 heat up the hatch segment

If its true 4lacs will be realy..realy a competetive price,can't believe.Will it lanch both petrol & diesel together?

Polo will be launched in 2010. Don't even think of it getting around 4 lacs !!. It is not possible . Yes Autocar has mentioned it but all VW cars are positioned above Skoda cars so will be Polo.

4Lakhs.....OMG.....I guess it will be only one variant like the Punto 1.2 Active.

add too ,they may compromise on intierior quality & features for cost cutting, to keep it in 4lacs

just a thought(In my sceond thought,i feel that they will not launch polo below fabia and keep the starting price at 6lacs)really confused coz theres no official news yet

Production of polo hatch 2 began in december 2009.

Volkswagen India will be launching the Polo in early 2010. The company’s first hatchback in India, the Polo will come with both petrol and diesel engine options. Its sedan version will be launched in mid-2010. The VW Polo will be a part of the rapidly growing premium hatchback segment in India, which includes Maruti’s Swift and Ritz and Hyundai’s i10 and i20. The company expects its sales in the country to improve remarkably after the launch of the Polo, and to cross the 1 lakh mark by 2014. Neeraj Garg, VW India’s Director (Passenger Car Division) said that the car would be built on a platform especially developed for Indian road conditions, and would be benchmarked against the Maruti Swift. Garg also said that Volkswagen’s initial strategy for the compact car segment would be to launch variants of the Polo. The car will be produced at VW’s Chakan plant in Pune.
