is there any restriction on buying electrical accessories from outside shop other than car dealer? I was told by car dealer if I fit any electrical accessory (music system, speaker, remote central locking, reverse parking censor etc) from outside shop.  warranty on car will get void..

kindly confirm..

That is true, any unauthorised electrical fitting from outside will void the warranty of the car.

There is a middle path-there are good fitters on the outside who will fit the accessory just the way a dealer would-those may be accepted at the time of claiming warranty.

This statement is usually made by the dealer so that the customer gets scared and buys the more expensive and less feature rich accessory available at the dealer!

Skg yes they can void the warranty if any cables or wires are cut, Today in local market you get all kind of harnesses (connectors) to fit the stuff without cutting wires and this will not void your car warranty, In todays time most of the buyers buy stuff from local market so don't worry go ahead the only thing that you need to keep in mind you need a GOOD INSTALLER.

Hi,

One of my friend who purchased Vista has got a written mail from Tata motors that fitting a Head set from outside is ok with them condition that the installer will not cut any of the wiring harness of the car.Go ahead and buy all the accessories from outside. The dealer always charges a minimum of 40-50% more than the outside market rates. Also always compare all the shops (for accessories) they too fool us a lot. You need to bargain hard and always compare the same models of Headset and speakers at different locations and then only decide where to buy from.
