Hi

I have ordered a Fiat Linea Emotion Pack Petrol and while earlier I was told that I could install reverse parking sensors; the Fiat guy today told me that installing them would void the warranty. Can someone throw some light on this please? Thanks

Well, in general anything that alters the car in any way (including electricals, wiring, etc) from the factory released state is liable to void the warranty. However I guess getting things installed by the manufacturer (or dealer on behalf of the manufacturer) before delivery should not void the warranty...and this probably will add to the car's cost.

get someone to check that out with a service advisor.

Salesfolk will lie through their teeth to sell their own acessories instead of letting you get it from outside

Retrofitters outside have the required expertise - they sell/fit much more than dealers do.  I don't think the warranty will get void.

I checked with the dealer - actually the showroom is owned by Tata itself - and they don't fit the damn sensors. Initially, one guy there told me that I could do so and the later said I could not. I sent a mail to Fiat India to help me sift through the confusion. Also, I checked out Amazon and they do have wireless sensors which I could potentially order as well. If someone has updates do let me know and I shall do the same if I hear anything back. Cheers.

Wireless sensors seems to be a good solution to the stalemate on this issue.

Have no personal experiance with them-also the whole Amazon aspect might turn out to be quite costly.

get the sensors fitted with connectors from outside-there should not be any issues.

I order from Amazon all the time - get it delivered to whoever is coming to visit to India - works perfectly - got Harman Kardon ipod Play for the car for only 30 US$ - was a steal. Back to the issue - called up the friendly Fiat guy - he said

"Check with the dealer"

"Dealer is Tata owned - he does not know and is giving mixed signals"

"Oh - ok - let me check" 2 mins later "I don't have that information - will let u know when I do"

Was courteous enough but still didn't give me the requisite info. Bummer!

Maybe you should take the leap of faith with the wireless sensors and make us all the more wiser with that review! LOL
