Hello Friends,

I will be taking the delivery of my new car Swift VDi ABS on 26-28th July. I want to go for good music system and some exterior mods.

1. Angel Eyes : Safety is concern than looks

-Looks wise they are nice, but by safety point of view do they provide a good road illumination compared to the Stock Headlights?

-Are they brighter than the HID kits fitted into Stock Headlamp Units?

-I am going for 4300K HID as they are the brightes

(Please tell whether to go for HIDs in Stock Headlamp Unit or a new Angel Eyed Headlamp Unit)

2. Alloys  : Max 15"

-Ideally 185/70R14 is the upgrade in 14" but can i go for 195/70R14

-Ideally 195/60R15 is the upgrade in 15" but can i go for 205/60R15

-Please see http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html to compare sizes

(Please tell if the sizes i feel should fit can touch the body / scrape the wheel arches)

Thanks...

1. Angel lights would be needed in Swift. HID's do offer better visibility than the stock ones.

2. I would say stick to 185/70/R14.

Ami, i think u did not get me.

1. Stock Headlamp Kit with Stock Bulbs

2. Stock Headlamp Kit with HID Kit Bulbs

3.  Angel Eyed Headlamp Kit with (HID Kit Bulbs x 2)

i am asking whether 3>2 or 2>3?

i am sure that 2>1

I am asking if i get my car fitted with angel eyes then will they give a very good road illumination on highways (without street lights) compared to original lights or hid fitted bulbs

HID cant be installed on Swift's stock headlamp unit. So an Angel kit should be in place.

1 is worse in my opinion. So I powered up my light, which was more than sufficient.

There is no 2. (unless it is a combination that includes the fog lamps also)

Angel lights with HID > Stock with better bulbs > Stock with stock bulbs.

I hope I am a lil clear this time.

Thanks... I got it clear

Do u know how much does an angel eye unit cost?

i think i will have to put 3 hid kits

Two HID Kits would be requred here, right?

two in the angel eyes and one for fog lamps

also advice the temperature of the bulbs i buy in hid kits

Last time I checked the price of angel kit, the price was 9k change. (1 year ago for my car). so it should be same or lower now.

With the limited knowledge I have, I guess 1 will cover all.

Binoy and others will be able to help you more on the colour and the kits.

Vineet congrats on the car!

Replacement HID with angle eyes will set you back by about 12K(like the one in the picture).

HID can be used in the stock headlamps but then the dim and bright function will be lost(as each HID lamp works in one temp range).

HID's have poor penetrance in case of rains and fogs-so personally dont like them that much in our driving conditions.

4K is a good range to start looking at-but the real 'look' of the HID lamp will only come upwards of 6.5K.

Tyres the sizes that you consider are possible-the larger tyres will face two problems

-tramlining(and increased steering effort and decreased FE).

-warranty issues

Thanks a lot Binoy

Please recommend me a good Brand for Tyres. I will be driving in Mumbai City.

-I have decided to stick to 14" strictly.

-Please suggest me exact tyre sizes which will fit on swift without tramlining or other scraping issues 185/195/205.

-I want a tyre slightly (negligibly) bigger than my stock tyres. (Less no of revolutions per km)

-Ex. 185/70R14 is smaller than stock by 5mm in diameter and 195/65R14 by 10.5mm

-But 195/70R14 is bigger than stock by 9mm in diameter and 205/65R14 (if available) by only 2.5mm i.e. 1.25mm increase in radius.

-If I choose a size smaller than my stock ones then the circumference will decrease, revolutions per km will increase and burn more fuel.

-Please tell me if the above mentioned logic of mine is correct and suggest?

Hi Vineet, congrats on your new car,For light upgrade you can use the Phillips Rally 130/100 bulb with a Headlight wiring harness and a Headlight cutout, obvious will be better than the stock 60/55w bulbs in your Stock Headlight.

Projector headlamps as in a way looks real cool on swift but its a serious compromise on the road visiblity, you may get the pair under 11k.

For ride quality and performance i would suggest you can upgrade your alloys to 15inch with Yokohama S-Drive or Bridgestone Pilot Presida3(PP3) if budget is not a constraint you may even look into the Michellin Primacy. The correct upsize for Swift is 205/55/R15.

Ramie

Thanks a lot Sound Factor...

In my Swift i have gone for Front Underbody, Rear Underbody, Side Skirts and Rear Spoiler.

So fuel economy will go down due to aerodynamic change.

By how much will my fuel economy go down (in KMS/LITRE) ?

So is it recommended to go for alloys in this case?
