Hi All,

I'd like to know from you all, Is it good to have a sunroof fitted in the car? I own a Ford Fiesta and very much interested in getting one. The dealer says that Warranty will be void if any Electrical is tampered, so any fitting which requires electicals, has to go through the dealer. The sales guy says Sunrrofs are not good, there r problems like leaking, etc. From the internet, I could find out about Webasto (http://www.webastoindia.com/). They provide 2-year warranty too. What are the other brands available? Those who have fitted sunroofs, please out in your comments. Thanks.

Sunroofs are not very practical in a tropical country like India.

Fitting the same is the most important aspect regarding sunroof-improperly fit sunroof can even have safety implication in the extreme cases, so evaluate your options carefully.

Webasto is a quite well reputed company.

Simple answer - NO.

As Binoy has explained, a sunroof is not practical and is hardly (if ever!) used in environments outside the cold temperate regions of Europe and Northern America, or by people who NEED the sun for their skin like the caucasians.

If you MUST have a sunroof, buy a car with an OE sunroof fitted at the factory.  Tampering with your roof and electrics (which will definitely void your warranty) is not recommended and you will never be able to get it done to factory specifications even if you use a well-known brand like Webasto.

Keep those wheels turning!

Thank you for your replies. I think not going for a sun-roof is wise.
