Skoda OctaviaWhen it comes to luxury coupled with style, I realized that Skoda Octavia was the class choice I made. The moment I sat in the car, it felt like I am about to drive not just a machine; but a royal beauty on the roads. On one fine day, I decided to go on a long drive with my wife to Jaipur from Delhi. Though I drove Skoda Octavia on Delhi roads; but was taking it on a long route for the first time. It was the second Saturday of the month, me and my wife kept all the belonging in the car. My wife was quite surprised to see the storage space in the car. From a small bag to big water jugs and luggage, everything was easily fitted in. then, we started off.

To our amazement, we did not stopped in between to Jaipur for refueling. This shows that Skoda Octavia has excellent performance. Even, the luxurious facility of cup and glass holders allowed us to enjoy our drinks on the way. On the whole, I would love to suggest this car to my friends and relatives.

one of the USPs the octavia had/has is its double bed boot which is quiet spacious enough. It can even accomodate an elephant ;)

Why break rules when following them is much easier!!!

Skoda Octavia is without doubt one of the best luxury sedans avialable in Diesel.

Is there any information on a facelift / cosmetic changes or any additions to the OCTAVIA anytime this year? I am planning to buy an Octavia and wouldn't mind waiting a few months if the New Octavia is round the corner. Though the car is due for a makeover, the SKODA people don't seem to be talking about it.

and how would you compare the upcoming Toyota Corolla Altis DIESEL with the OCTAVIA? which would be a better option?

Hey friends..!!!

i dont know if it is the right place to ask this. but i am planning to buy a second hand skoda octavia rider 1.9 diesel. i came across a good deal which is a 2006 model and is asking for 5,00,000. i have read alot about the car maintenance and stuff. I am not of a kind who will take the car to skoda authorised centres n spend whopping amounts on just whatevr they quote as the price for the servicing.

So if i plan to get it regularly serviced from a good mechanic from outside then i think it is not much of a problem. but is the deal good?

Thanks Saharsh

I really second your opinion in this regard. The cost of the car is just too amazing to ignore. But my main area of concern is the maintenance.  I own a wagonR for 3 years now. And where my friends pay about 4000rs per service, my mechanic does that the same thing in 1100rs. So i have actually a man who is better than most of the mechanics. He charges minimal money and tells me what all is required to be changed. So i think if I go by what he says,(i.e. u usual service after 10000 km) will cost me not more than 3000rs with him , which otherwise costs 10,000rs with the authorised service station of Skoda. Otherwise the spare parts are once in a while expenditure which is the main cause of worry to me. If i can keep the car for 5 years more and with an expenditure of 3000rs. per 10,000km (as per my mechanic) then i dont think i should hesitate in buying the car.

If there is anything which i am missing, kindly throw some light upon it.

Thanks!

a good car the octavia is without doubt. The ASS is horrible.Trust the loyal mechanic.Dont see any major problems at all then. The FE,we know since a long time  is excellent.Go for it.

@raghav.The octavia is rechristened the Laura in India.Any cosmetic changes will be named the Laura again I believe. The Octavia model in India is history as the dealer puts out.

Now we have the Laura, the Fabia and the Superb apart from the soon-to-be launched Yeti.

FE crazy me!

@ raghav. The Corolla Altis diesel might be the winner considering the Toyota's low maintenance history.

The ASS with Toyota is one of my personal good experiences. So maybe the Toyota stands out?Time can tell!

FE crazy me!
