I think it is neither  fair nor professional.  If people can TD  i20 CDRI, Hyundai must officially announce car price.  They can't sleep over price for ever.

They are having an official launch on the 7th in Delhi and 8th in Chennai or so we are told and may well be waiting for the budget announcement on 6th to vary their prices accordingly incase there is any tax breaks for the auto industry, they can pass it on to the consumer.

Expect the price to be 80-1lk more than the petrol 1.2 variants.

You have a good point there - waiting for budget.  But the 1.4 L (90 ps) diesel engine is well tested and liked in Europe.

I hope they don't read your # and keep it in the range of 60-70 K.  Did it put smile on your face Smile.

I would actually hope they give upgrades to customer who have booked 1.2 Magna a free upgrade to the 1.4 Magna - me being one of them.

I did have a test drive of the Honda Jazz, and to me at the price they are quoting, its to limit sale and increase brand value, they just want to sell only 2000 cars this year round or something like that and want to restrict people from mass booking. It clear from other strategies of sales in the past that they may be working on a low end Jazz or similar small car, and want to boost the market value of the Jazz (by offering only the high end version) and keeping it out of everyone's reach, such that when they launch the low ends people will be stamping on each other to own a high priced Jazz (brand) at a low price.

This is just my perception as i have been following the Jazz for quite sometime.

I do not consider Jazz as VFM.

This is very good car but priced 70K to 1 Lakh more. However Honda in India has a certain brand value and its individual choice to access premium to be paid for brand.

Any car can be considered as Value for Money if its features, specification justifies its price and do not have any undue premium. This is not the case for Honda Jazz.

From what I hear, i20 CRDi pricing is also pretty high.  Friend of mine who put a booking amount down for the vehicle 2 weeks back is grumbling.

The website has also been updated - the new cars are the 1.4 CRDi and the 1.4 Gamma (Petrol) Automatic.

The diesel is 90 ps, 22.5 kgm and the petrol is 100 ps, 13.9 kgm.

Pricing is atrocious, but for the price you get practically EVERYTHING including ABS, EBD, Dual Airbags, Passenger Airbag Switch-off, Keyless Entry, FOLDING ORVMs, and some more.  In other words, the works.

Keep those wheels turning!

Hyundai i20 CRDi launched at base price 6.2 lakh ex-showroom. New Delhi

Here is the price list
Model Ex showroom prices (Rs)
i20 Magna 480200
i20 Asta 560201
i20 Asta (O) 582200
i20 1.4 CRDI Magna 619800
i20 1.4 CRDI Asta 683431
i20 1.4 CRDI Asta (O) 720430
i20 1.4 Asta (A/T) PL 731130
i20 1.4 Asta (O) (A/T) PL 772301
New Delhi Price

All said and done, they are pricing the i20 1.4 closer to the 1.6 VERNA by a small margin. Whats wrong with Hyundai, its good to go gaa gaa over the reviews of the Hyundai i20, but its a different thing to put it out of the reach of the larger consumer who will give them numbers.
