Recent sales figure is out for i20 and it seems it is well received globally for a new car in first few months.   i20 diesel will be out on July 7, 2009 with 1.4 CRDI engine (90 ps), which will provide better option for diesel buyers without compromising luxury or safty.  Diesel car owners are extra happy today by Rs. 0.10/Km   Laughing  due to price incraese of petrol, which will increse the gap by Rs. 2/L more.

Vishal, Swift isn't my last option.  I would prefer i20 ahead of it mainly because it has better build-quality, more space/comfort & better interiors/features.  It is a better car - for sure.

i20 has 3 versions - have a look at the comparison (Features & All Features). The difference in pricing between Magna & Asta is substantial & so is the case with features (ABS & Airbags included).  Asta (O), priced a little higher than Asta, comes with addtional side & curtain airbags.

So, it will depend upon ones preferences/priorities.

One more news, Hyundai will launch i10 diesel by year end.  This will have all new and smallest 1120cc, 3 pod diesel engine with 75PS@ 4000rpm and 155NM of torque from 2000rpm..  This will heat up diesel competition.  I guess power will good for i10 weight, which is little better than Skoda Febia 1422cc  CDI but only little more fugal?

Do you people believe that Maruti has failed to position Ritz in supermini segment ? Or does it really falls in this segment ?

Presently i believe there are four cars - Jazz , Fabia , Punto , i20 .

I also believe that all cars in this segment should come with all safety & other parameters which are standard worldwide . But All cars fail do so . Yes they are offering it in top models but it should come in base model .

I think it is on the part of manufacturers as they want to have share in both segment by compromising on safety & other  features.

Dear Amit,

I own an i 20 Magna version and I completely second to Mr. Pankaj's observations about i 20....i 20 Asta is was about 60k above Magna's price..think the additional price is justified by essentials like Air bags, Alloy wheels, Fog lamps, rear wiper, Automatic climate control, electricaly operated side mirrors, peppy stearing with audio controls, height adjustable drivers seat, keyless entry with folding key(like skoda keys) and rear spoiler(with a little bit of bargain)....I am a budget guy and m happy with my Magna version....

cheers..

SALIL

but how justified it is to go for i 20 when it has the same engine as i 10 ...and why not go for maruti swift petrol  ,which is tested and proven

don't u pplthink  that driving i 20 will be like a horse struggling and suffocating to speed up (PICK UP)

as  body is huge and heavy with a low powered i.e underpowered engine

Hello Vishal ,

I had driven i20 . I think it has got just enough power . 1.2 is given purely from FE point of view. You can not compare it with i10 or Swift. Both are small cars. You just test drive all three cars & you will surely realise the difference as well as perceived " underpower engine "".
