Hi,

As far my knowledge, 60/55 watts headlamps doesnot require ralay fitting. it is required only incase of 100/90 or 100/130 watts headlamps.

I have recently installed Philips xtreme power on my car.. Got it for Rs. 800/-

What could be the best BULBS that will solve the Real Problem of Low Light of I10 and it should not affect the drivers driving from the opposite side.

Has the I10 not yet listened to this complaint from the customers?

Bhanu, almost all cars come with 60/55 Halogen lamps or HID-Xenon of 35 watt rating as anything above 55watts for low and 60watts for high beam is illegal in our country as well as other countries. Even I had the same complaint with my SX4 but got to know about this. Regarding this, not much can be done by the manufacturers and only minor things like focussing. An expensive alternative is to provide HID lights which will cost you anywhere between 10-20k.

But as far as I have observed, high beams with fog lamps give you decent range and power (Say 60watts for main and 35 watts for fog hence total beam output is 60 + 35 = 95 watts!!).

I also considered white lamps but i am not sure of its efficiency in rainy or wet surfaces.

@ Rohit: I strongly agree with you especially truckers who have two highs on each side are annoying and total vision of the road is lost. However, we should be rightful on our side. NO matter what car I am drivin and what lamps i own, whenever i see an opposite vehicle, I switch to lows and usually the oncoming driver also does the same! Hence I neither cause danger to the opp vehicle nor myself.

Driving in low beam DOES NOT hamper vision of the opposite vehicle. This can be noticed as the beam never rises up the opposite vehicle's body. Your vision is only hampered when ythe light is directed towards your face.

The difference lies in the gas usedfor filling inside the lamp. It does play a small role in the beam quality. Even the materials used and their electrical efficiency also plays an important role in the light output.

The higher luminance Philips bulbs have filaments that burn brighter and hence the life of these bulbs are drastically short.
