Well, as I understand, i10 Era has Tilt Steering.

If the current models do not have it, it's surprising - features are always added - not withdrawn.

Oh... so it doesn't have - they have withdrawn the feature - that's sad. Can't do anything about it.

I have heard about the reason behind doing away with the tilt steering features. Your car must be the GenNext one. Earlier models including mine from August 2008, had it.

It is because of the i10's inherent steering rattling noise issue. i10s and i20s had some design defect in the steering, which Hyundai tried to to rectify with some quick fix solutions like bushing and fitting yoke spring, greasing with a high viscous grease, and even column replacements. But for 2-3 years they never disclosed the exact cause of the problem (probably they could not figure out or never paid attention due to overwhelmingly good sales of the car in spite of such issues).

There has been lots of complaints from customers regarding this issue. (example thread http://www.carwale.com/forums/viewthread-16944.html).

Now, probably the cause was attributed to the tilt feature of the steering, and hence they removed it, rather than trying to analyze and fix the root cause. Since the sales are still high, they probably did not bother to rectify the steering design (very few companies bother about Indian customers), saving cost and making more profit.

Regards,

Anu.
