Initially  the Polo will come with the uprated engines from the Fabia range and eventually the TSI series engines would be introduced(might be as a sports version).

Localisation of the petrol injectors for the TSI would be quite unlikely in the near future and hence the price premium on the same if at all the said engine is introduced here.

We have seen results of Jazz, Fabia and Punto... So wait for Polo.. hope she will do much better. But competition with I-20 will be too tough for them. In september 2009 sales Jazz-500 units, Fabia - 900 and I-20 top on the table of premium hatch back with 4000 units.

If they put 1.4TSI in it, it'll be a mega-hit among performance machine seekers but sales volumes won't justify putting that engine on a Polo here. They won't do it.

But if they do and price it at 9L - I'll prebook one

9L is an impossibility for 1.4TSI. 15-18+ is more like it. No takers.

The TSI is VWs weapon of mass destruction (of other carmakers), they should use it asap on all possible cars.

Direct injection petrol tech will be a technology available to other car makers as well, guess the Hyundai's and other small car players will introduce similar engine at an affordable price.

Everyone from Mistu to Ford to GM have direct injection engines in their portfolio(albeit in different variations) so 'mass destruction; of other car makers seems to be unlikely! LOL

TSI is far more than gasoline direct injection.

What is obiviously more is the 'twin' chargers-but these are not something new, only that the combined application is new.

Also do note that the turbo alone versions were called the TFSI and the supercharger/turbo combi was known as TSi, but of late VW has dropped the distinction and all these engines are named as TSI !

The TSI series are a great line of engines, but to think that the same would be the end of all other car markers would be premature.

For a different perspective on the much acclaimed TSI engines do have a look at this review of the Golf TSI(1.4) done by Jeremy Clarkson(of Top Gear). One would have to seive through the randomness to get to the subject matter and he seems to have driven the car in winter traction mode also ! LOL
