Having driven 4 hatchbacks now i feel that along with the drivers pleasure what is required is ample leg room and boot space. Thats something recent car makers have been ignoring. Last hatchback that took this into consideration was TATA with the indica and indigo. That will be something of vital importance to look at in VW polo.

VW Polo is supposed to launched in first quarter of 2010 and the estimated price btween 6-7 lakhs and supposed to be competing with SWIFT, Fabia, i-20, Indica-vista car.

However I have drive polo when i was iceland and feel if Wolkswagen follow complete design of the european model then it POLO will definitely be a BIG hit.

TSi petrol might well take the fight to the diesels, but the Vistas and the Swift will have there markets relatively safe because their diesel models are so competitively prized.

Hi

Production of polo hatch 2 began in december 2009.

Volkswagen India will be launching the Polo in early 2010. The company’s first hatchback in India, the Polo will come with both petrol and diesel engine options. Its sedan version will be launched in mid-2010. The VW Polo will be a part of the rapidly growing premium hatchback segment in India, which includes Maruti’s Swift and Ritz and Hyundai’s i10 and i20. The company expects its sales in the country to improve remarkably after the launch of the Polo, and to cross the 1 lakh mark by 2014. Neeraj Garg, VW India’s Director (Passenger Car Division) said that the car would be built on a platform especially developed for Indian road conditions, and would be benchmarked against the Maruti Swift. Garg also said that Volkswagen’s initial strategy for the compact car segment would be to launch variants of the Polo. The car will be produced at VW’s Chakan plant in Pune.
