Hello All,

I wanted help from you all in confirming if the below price is OK for the accessories for Ritz. The Maruti dealer is quoting the following prices:

1. Seat Cover Leather - 4800

2. Body Coating (its 3M - and not Teflon) - 4000

3. Under Body - Anti rust - 4000

4. Keyless Entry - 6050

5. Sun glass (from 1000 to 4500) - (45 to 55 % = 1750)

Please advice if the above price is reasonable?

The car sales man himself told me that the above price is over quoted and is suggesting me to take the car to one of his known associates in the city who will give a much better deal. He also called the associate and spoke to him in front of me referring 2 other people whom he had already sent to the agent earlier.

Now I am not sure if the salaes man is genuinely helping me save some cash or if he is in the process of making some quick bucks.

The above mentioned deal is totalling to about 20850. If I am able to negotiate it to around 15K (-25%) - would it be a good deal?

Thanks - Anoob

Hey Anoob ...just wondering ..when did you shift from swift to ritz ???

Anyways the above quote is too high in my view...which dealer gave you this quote?? Do not worry about th eintention of the sales person if the accessories you get outside are cheaper and of good quality.

Amit,

The shift from Swift to Ritz - it all happened on Saturday when I visited one of the Maruti Showrooms (My Cars in Wakad). They had kept on Display around 5 cars - (diff colors) and they really caught my eye.

When I sat back and thought about it for a while, I am not making any compromises on the technical front - ie - same engine, same specs, same version (VDi with ABS etc) and the best part - they had one vehicle in their godown (VDi with ABS) and surprisingly the color they had was my wives pref. SO THE DELIVERY TIME IS LESS THAN 6 DAYS!!! So decided to go for the new looks in town. However I am making a few personal (cosmetic though!!!) sacrifices like the front speedomater assembly (honestly I dint like the tachometer placed seperately in the VDi model - looks odd, also the coloring of the speedo dial - looks outdated. reminds me of the old Zen - white dial). Also tihs new shape, when seen in diff colors, its not a bad choice either..)))

Now about the access, if from the above list, I am negotiating it for 15K - would it be a good deal. I suppose when I go outside to a local dealer, 20 to 25% is what I can expect - correct me If I am wrong please.

Thanks - Anoob

Well Anoob...congrats for Ritz ...6 day delivery time is not bad for diesel version. I agree on the tachometer part, i mean how often do we look at it anways ...and is placed high on the dash ....

If you cud get the access in 15 k then its a good deal indeed.

Anti rust is a lil costly.

Remote locking would depend on the make and model no.

Sunfilms - fine if the brand is garware. Still it is a lil costly.

Thanks Amit..).

so 15K is a good deal - but I am not sure if I'll be able to come out successfully after negotiating with the access dealer inside the showroom.

Could you please clarify a few more things please.

1. Sun Control - I guess Garware is a good option in comparison to V-Kool. (as per the info got from previous threads)

2. Will 45 to 50% from Garware fit into the 2000 budget. (I hope 2000 is for both the sides and back. - any idea?)

3.I have heard about Teflon coating - is this a brand name? becuase the access dealer in My cars is giving 3M coating on the body and under chassis (Anti Rust) - will it be better comapred to Teflon (if thats the brand name?)

4. They were also talking about a third kind if coating. It seems due to water seeking into the doors, its advisable to get the inner part of the door coated as well? - is this advisable, as I dont want the company settings for door assembly to be removed multiple times (I am planning to install the ICE some time later).

Thanks

Thanks Srinivas,

Ritz from a technical perspective has a proven engine underneath (for diesel version - DDiS), which is absolutely same as the one running in Swift. So from a performance, Torque (190@2000), FE perspective - it would almost be similar to Swift. However, since the car is a little heavier then Swift (around 30 to 40 kg) and has a diff shape, there migght be a small dip in the FE (fuel efficiency). very negligible though. Looks are diff and liking is subject to individuals choice!!

ABS - This "Anti-Lock Braking System" - check the following link for a very brief explanation of what it is - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-lock_braking_system

I chose ABS becuase, you are getting this security feature for about 20K additional, and more over it might prove to be useful in Highway driving with monsoon coming fast. Its an individual choice though, depending upon ones driving habits. I wouldnt say that a car fitted with ABS is absolutely accident proof, but it might help in that fraction of a second where a sudden braking is involved and you dont loose the control of your car because you have an ABS.

I left the color choice to my home minister - chocolate

Well, Since I have booked this one - I cant think of any cons at the moment, except for a few design changes to the dashboard where the tachometer is placed seperately. Its again more on indivuduals choice.. its not a technical glitch!!

If you look at this family of vehicles (Swift & Ritz - Deisel Version), There are a lot of Pros against a very few cons which again is subjective and very much debatable.

Thanks - Anoob
