A sanden unit would cost around the 18K mark.

Hi,

I am having a maruti 800 Std car (Bharat -II, MPFI....2001 make). It has run  only 20000 kms. I dont want to sell it as its condition is good and wud not get a gud price. Would it be advisable to get an AC installed in the car. I have enquired abt it with some dealers, but they do not reccomend as it is not successful. They say that company fitted is the best one. And Sanden or subros when installed at later stage would result in overheating of Engine and reduce pickup and performance of car.

What do u suggest after considering such inputs from dealers?  Also is the CNG kit advisable?

Thanks,

Abhishek

AC performance will not be as good as company fitted but no issues if the kit & workmanship quality is good.  There are many who have gone for such retrofittments.

CNG will reduce power/performance - it will not match with that of petrol, and will also not be as maintenance/trouble-free.  The running-cost will reduce to approx. 1/3rd of petrol.  You can consider it if your run is high.

Hi,

I do have the similar model. Maruti 800 mpfi 2001 make/model. In Feb 2011 I have made a full service of my car which has run 1 lakh kms. It includes Engine reboar, denting, painting. Along with that It is been fitted with an A/C unit and an audio system making it look like a new machine on road for now. I avoided going for CNG because the power drops to 50% less to a petrol performance while at the time of running on CNG using A/C.  I should say that drops the current performance as well it hurts the engine.
