Hi i hav decided to buy new honda accord 2.4 MT but my friends saying to buy volkswagen passat... its because accord have less features but my point is accord has excellent engine.. passat is only 2.0TDI & 140 bhp.... is tat ok for our road condition??? i stay in coimbatore (Tamil Nadu).. Ll it be powerful to accord.. i like passat because of more features.. No worries abt the fuel economy and price... My point is there should be good features and engine performance for the price i pay????? Tell me which car is good in these two????

The new Accord is an excellent car compared even to the C-class. The engine is a scrocher and the price point is the real sweetener.

The Passat is a diesel(the new CRDI series) and hence the engines cannot be directly compared. It does have more than adequate performance and is much better than the PDI engines of the past.

VW and passat in particular has been plagued with reliability issues since its launch in India, more over the servicability and resale of the Accord would be much better than the Passat.

To add...

Accord is a VFM - look at the difference in the pricing & the features of both (All Features).

While passat is sufficiently powerful, it will not be as easy as Accord to maintain. Honda is already entrenched, and well positioned to support for service and spares. So go for the accord.

Due to much higher torque at much lower rpm, roll-on acceleration of Passat would be much better but in overall performance & package, Accord would win (I've not driven Passat).

Want a German car with better interiors than the Passat but with a lower price tag-buy the new Superb PDi diesel!

A good decision it would be for the reasons discussed before.
