Is Tata Indica Vista giving competition to Maruti suzuki Swift?

Tata services have improved immensely since 2-3 years – hope they continue to do more. 

Regarding the taxi image... Tata have on purpose continued with Indica V2 (non-turbo) models that are very popular as taxi - but (on purpose) have discontinued/replaced Indica Turbo & DiCOR models (though successful) with Vista TDi, and have launched new Vista QJD.  This will by & large help restrict the taxi image to Indica V2 only.  However, Vista TDi/QJD would also be used as taxi - but not as much as Indica V2 - but then other/better/bigger cars too are being used as taxi.

Like-wise, Indigo & Indigo CS too would have separate image with Vista/QJD platform (to be launched).

Indica Xeta (Petrol) – though was never used as taxi (obviously) - it did suffer due to taxi image of its diesel counter-part - and also because it's not known to be a trouble-free car.  The same is likely to be discontinued soon.  Vista Safire is already in, in its place & is quite a success to begin with.

This is my personal opinion.

Changing the looks/shape of Vista would, however, have helped more - and so would have some propaganda.  Tatas have always done that on low profile – don’t know why.

Maybe Tata thinktanks are busy with nano deal,they are worried its bookings are in more in cities than towns and village opposite to their expectations

once they are over with nano prodcution.once it comes to a line,may be they promote Vista

But surely vista suffers heavily from lack of proper advertisement

Even flop model of maruti zen estilo,they are giving ads in it

Once they get ability to produce in heavy numbers as swift does,then they may give ads

Now a days I am seeing a higher number of Vistas in my place, but nothing like giving the Swift a stiff competition. The customer relations of TATAs have improved a lot, but nothing near MUL.

Vista is a great car but people are reluctant to go for an unproved car with a TATA name. I guess the best advertisement as usual is the users.

Major problem of Vista is its exterior. It is very much a grown up Indica in looks which has been on the road for almost 10 years. Also TATA should give up their obsession for tail light ( Even Nano carry the same trend which is old now or we are too familiar with it ). They also should have gone for more conventional dash board ( instead of speedo & techo at centre ) as so many people don't like it . A nearly perfect product is definitely not doing what it suppose to do. Its not the positives of Swift but negatives of TATA is affecting the sales !!

I would rate the design to one of the important factors for the Vista's undoing. The central instruments is a cost saving measure as the same dash can be used for both right and left hand drive models in different markets.

I somehow like the idea - probably because in my car, due to my height, the speedometer & tachometer are not fully visible to me (the upper most portions).  Steering adjustment would have, however, helped.

hi folks!

interesting thread ! to me it appears that we indians have a habit of taking time, more than required to accept any particular brand, that is newly launched ! take for example maruti itself.. it took time for maruti 800 also to establish.. people used to just reject it as a 'soap case' in the begining ! and premier was still the favourite brand .. as it was sturdier.. but when people realised the reality, they openly accepted the car.. now same phenomenon is repeating itself with vista.. people are realising but are accepting a bit slowly.. let them take their time ..! its sure that ultimately vista will be at par with swift.. but swift is already a bench mark.. and has definitely created a niche for itself in the market.. and it will always be there..things like vista.. or any other make.. will always be compared with swift.. and that is it.. hope you all got my point..!

any product that is launched earlier .. creates its own place in the market with a little bit more ease ..and becomes a bench mark .. for comparison .. with similar products launched later.. but the interesting point to note her is that ..fiat palio stile was already there in the market with a similar engine and lesser price.. so why inspite of this swift gained an upper hand.. well thats the thing that makes swift stand a bit differently .. than vista or palio stile..! people think its better.. well this thinking.. psychology will take some more time to change.. particularly in our indian society .. for the reason i have already mentioned in the begining.. i hope you folks get my point..!

Yes as far as dash board is concerned it is definitely cost saving measure. It will help them to cater all types of market. How ever i feel that this is affecting the purchase decision although it is not affecting the driving . Also conventional dash would help them to conceal the negative of steering wheel which is bigger & out right cheap . They also address immediately the quality of beading . It is still there although Vista had been launched 8 months ago. It wan't cost them much !!. Also Aura should come with bigger tyres. Another trademark of Tata providing undersize tyres . Vista deserve bigger tyres. Why wait for Indigo Vista when you already have Vista on the road !! Also they should take some clues from Fabia as far as interiors are concerned ( matching seat covers with the exterior colour of the car ) instead of same colours of seats irrespective of exterior colour. Vista needs much more attention from Tata .

Swift grown to present status as it has no serious competetion untill Vista Came,and maruti after sales service and their customer care and their purposeful logic of creating a artificial demand or delay all worked like a gem and still its on the top

Vista when mentioned to someone who is having money but not time to investigate or reasearch ,just strikes off it as INDICA..!!! no way..he says r u stupid ,ur comparing royal swift with taxi Indica..!! they even wont notice that we said that indica vista is a new car and tata has launched it newly..

Vista need bigger bag interms of advertisement just allow it to get into crowd ..its now has mouth advertising only

onthe flipside swift has many flaws and not good interiors no inbuilt music system and bit overpriced..and adding that no discounts from dealersss..Yell
