I am planning to buy Spark LS and would look at purchasing some accessories along with it.

These I feel are necessary:
Car Film Block 35
Door Beading
Remote Central Locking
Car Cover

And for looks:
Roof Rails
Spoiler

What is your opinion?

Also, do you think the spoiler is worth the extra ~5.5K?

Any other accessories I should be considering?

Btw, when I visited the showroom, I was suprised to see cars with non-metallic color looking more glossy (reflective) then the ones with metallic color.
So what is the advantage of metallic (why is it more expensive)?

Chandan, seat covers may be useful. A car stereo could be bought later.

I am not sure how important roof rails and spoilers are but if u love the looks go ahead.

As for the colours, black is a reflective shade and the red colour they now offer is a metallic one without any extra cost.

In fact I am about to take delivery of a Spark LS in the Red shade. This was after i was told that Casablance White (my first choice) has been discontinued by GM.

Congratulations Vikas, I hope your experience with the car has been great so far.

Ok, yesterday I went to Sundaram Motors to make the payment, and inspect the vehicle. They had said (earlier) that I will first need to make the full payment only after that the vehicle will leave the yard and it would take about 4 hrs to arrive at the showroom. When I reached the showroom at around 11:45 am, the sales executive told me that they cant get the vehicle now as the yard closes at 1 pm. I was not aware of this fact, so after a little reasoning with the senior executive, they finaly agreed to give it a try. I made the full payment and returned to the showroom at about 5 pm, but was little displeased to see that the car was not even washed. I had a friend along with me who has the same varient and helped me with the inspection.

The mileage reading was 27, I guess this is ok !

Chasis No: MA6MF481D9T024306

Engine No: B10S1243516KC2

Month and Year of Manufacture: D9

Does D9 imply April 2009 ??

I had asked for the accessories as in my above post. The sales executive indicated that the Roof Rails will be sticked and not fixed using nut-bolt and that they had customers complaining about it coming off.
So I removed the Roof Rails & Rear Spoiler (which would have complemented the roofrails) from the accesories list.

Next, after my cheque payement is realised the accesorise will be fitted and vehicle sent for registration.
Do I need to do an inspection again afther accesories are fitted and before registration? Or its ok to directly do the inspection on day of delivery?

I was reading some of the posts in the "Maintain your car forum" section and came accross a post on anti rust coating.

I wonder if I should be asking the dealer to do an anti rust coating especially because of the rainny season?

Btw Vikas, did you go for under chassis anti rust coating?

[Carwale forums are really very informative!]

Chandan congrats on the car!

Do an inspection before registration-as once the registration is done then nothing can be done is a defect is found later on.

D9-does mean April 2009.

Anti-rust coating would be advisable-the car comes with anti-rust coatings but the exra coat will act as an extra buffer to road chip damage.

My car says P9 and I took delivery in first week of May. How do I interpet the month of manufacture here? Obviously one can't follow the logical alphabetical order.

I was hoping that the experts would have commented about decoding the manufacturing date by now..

Anyhow, I took delivery yesterday evening. But as soon as I left the showroom, it started raining heavily, roads flooded, traffic jam... luckily I reached home without a scratch

Maybe I should have done the extra anti rust coating

I guess the next best opportunity is during the first servicing (in 1 months time) like Vikas.

@Chandan - hi ... did you get a body colour door handle with your Spark LS? How much is the on-road price there?
