As it is a proven case of forgery, you can demand for more. As it is one year old, why don't demand for discount considering 10% depreciation(even though not used).

You can live in your car, but you can't drive your house.

Hi Kuriakose

Have you settled your matter? Did you get your compensation?

Yes Kuriakose, please update - others will benefit from your experience/details.  Thanks.

@ Harish, I request if you too can like-wise update your thread for the same reasons. Thanks.

on 6/6/2009, I have contacted the Dealer M/s Marikar engineers and they are offering some accessories like Leather seat cover and rear parking sensor.  But I have requested for few free maintenance/ service packages and expecting a reply from the dealer by this week end.

As per the dealer the cost of Natural Leather seat cover is approximately Rs 28000/-. is it can be true?

Since I do not have any idea about leather, please provide me some tips to differentiate Natural and artificial Leather.

Dear Mr. Kuriakose,

Don't settle for anything meagre like a leather seat or any such accessories.  Just understand that they are mutlinationals and Rs 28000/- is just a day's worth of toileteries for them.  You have to really make them feel the pinch.  Do they give you a rupee less when you do a service or when you try to bargain the price?  So now that the ball is in your court, play it well especially when the reputation of the company is being questioned and your hard earned money was taken for granted. Leave the money part, there are certain ethics that people should follow in a business deal, which goes even for the underworld dons. Breach of trust you put on a well known brand.  Nobody deserves to be cheated and in your case you found it.  How many such cases are going unnoticied.? Rs. 28000/- or even twice the amount is peanuts for them and amounts to only what these huge  companies pay a month on one of their (unskilled) mechanic trainees. (Just take it like this.  In US Dollars, it amounts to only USD 600; just 1-2% of the price of the vehicle ). If this was here in the U.S., this case was enough to make a fortune, for just your mental agony and the hours you lost physically in going through this.Imagine if you wanted to sell it today.  The general rule of the thumb is "Anything that is second hand goes for half the price, no matter for how long you owned it; for a day or a month or a year !)

Since you are in India, it is a different system and dont get dragged into the legal side with so many loopholes. But definitely think twice and get some mature suggestions and make them pay for it in such a way that the Skoda mother company issues a memo to all these kind of dealers spoiling the company's name in a country; dealers who think that we people are ignorant even when the technology is under our finger tips. eg: Knowing the details of a vehicle with the VIN number at the touch of a button from your house.  Nobody, who pays about 14-15 lakhs for a vehicle, should be taken for a ride and it is high time all these dealers learned it the hard way we decide.  I have heard from my friends that Skoda has a major service at around 75,000 kms where you have to change the complete clutch assembly which will cost you over 1 lakh rupees and nobody will give you even a 5% discount on it.

You can read the posts at www.teambhp.com, which includes my experiences as well.  So do your homework well, especially the  maths part and settle it well at the earliest. Don't let it drag! The more it drags the more complicated things become and difficult to explain.

All the best!  Please let us all know the final outcome; the price they had to pay for breaking the contract and trust .  They asked for it ! So give it to them !!Wink

Great Sajan

Waited for a long time for some one to say this. My saying it would have made it sound biased since i have an ongoing issue with Skoda.

You are right. The issue is not about money and compensation. It is about their blatant attempt to cheat us all.

Offering free accessories is a typical move done by the dealer, who is now on damage control...
It just does not make sense to accept seat-covers as compensation.

It is right of you to demand a few service packages.

My Vehicle is Skoda Fabia 1.2 Ambiente petrol and Dealer is Marikar Engineers Limited, Kochi/Kerala

I have done a research regarding the year of manufacture.

Fortunately, all  Skoda / volksWagen Vehicle will have a Vehicle Identification number (VIN) - Here in India it is the Chassis number. By decoding it we can find out the vehicle details.

For decoding VIN/ Chassis Number you can use the website

http://igorweb.org/vindec/Default.aspx

The result of my vehicle's VIN code is

"

Škoda Fabia II Ambiente 1.2 HTP 51kw

model year 2008, production number 504695

production plant Aurangabad

The entered VIN is valid!

"

That is my behicle is a 2008 model.

Now it is clear that I have been cheated by the dealer.

Can anybody provide some legal advice?

Have heard about selling a Skoda Octavia Combi in the same manner.
