Rohit, I don't know what an immobiliser does, but what I want is -

  • the car engine should get switched off when I press a button.
  • There should be no ECU codes when this is done.
  • I should be able to start my car normally by turning the key / bump starting after it is switched off with this switch.

Now, please also tell me what it is, along with the solution... Smile

Immobiliser cuts off the fuel supply to the car when you try and start with a wrong key.

So if I go to a car accessories shop and tell them to do what immobilizer does to the car, just don't integrate it with the car ignition, give me a separate switch instead, will it work? I would just get him the parts needed + labor, and voila, I have my kill switch ... Is it that simple?

Its not at all that simple-what happens to the brake booster and the power steering?

krishna i can understand what you are thinking right now, basicaly you need a "chor lock". so, that if you switch it off - no one would be able to start your car till the time the switch is on.

"You are Looking for a Circuit Breaker"-Right?

well, i will again advise you to stop at a nearby workshop-ask the electricion about the same.i am sure that you will get the sollution.

yes, if you dont want to touch your ECU(which is not adviseable)- definately you need to play with the fuel supply.

@Binoy if he gets the So called immobilizer switch installed-definately our advise to him would be to only use that switch when he is not driving.Othgerwise-yes, it will be a Risk.(brake booster and the power steering)

As I said, I basically want to mimic the ignition switch, just leaving out accessories and odometer circuits.

My power steering is EPS. It remains ON even when the engine is not running. Brakes are not that fortunate - the vacuum requires engine to keep running to replenish. But with the vacuum reservoir, I am comfortable, can break for 2-3 instances before it runs out on me and I have to stand on on the pedal to brake the car.

I generally don't stand on the pedal, just bump the car so I get back my power brakes.

I don't want to get into an uninformed 'chor-lock' thing, which can be incomplete as well as dangerous. I think just ignition is not what the key switch disables - it also has to address injectors as well as fuel pump, for the switching action to be complete. Just ignition off means injectors keep spewing into the manifold till the engine comes to rest - bad for the cat to have unburnt fuel passing through!

Krishna, as I see it what you need to do is add the hidden switch between the ignition switch (its contactor on the switch) and the self-starter. So I guess it involves simply cutting the wire that feeds the starter after the ignition switch and putting the additional switch there. Something like this...

batt off

batt on

ignition ----------< hidden switch >------- starter

Hello

How ignition kill switch alarm

I have an aftermarket Clifford alarm on my car and it's been acting up. At first the chirp wasn't working, but now it is. But now, the kill switch won't let the car start. I've disconnected everything from the alarm box, but still nothing. How do I disable the kill switch or bypass it?
