hi binoy,

i did not ask them to do a patch work on the scratches they had created, which they had promised to do this time and had given it in writting,as i thought their patch work would be even more conspicous and ugly than the scratch itself, leave alone the patch work, the last time,in the name of polishing the dashboard they had appiled the black polish and smudged a black colour all over the A pillar, beige door handles, seat covers, etc, which took me half an hour of swipping off with a soap water,so i had actually requested them not to polish the dash board,we can not find fault with them though as people who do polishing etc are not professionals

Hello everybody,

Just finish 1500 km on my Linea emotion Pack(P)

Would like to share my experience till now :

After taking TD of many a cars for over a year, i finally closed my eyes and banked on Linea, which had everything i was looking for except for the Badge. But now i think it paid well.

Handling N Steering : it is very good and turns even on corners are very comfortable.Steerage is good too.

Suspension N ride : Suspension are best among the compared car and this was the fore most reason to choose this car.Ride is quiet smooth at low and high speed.

Engine : At low gear some time i feel linea grasping for breath but later realised it the problem with hard accelerator.Probabaly to discourage drivers to press on gas easy, to increase FE.Other wise on highway too performs well and on fifth gear takes off silky smooth. After 120-130kmph car take some time to go up but i didnt try above 140 but all was acceptable. Its a heavy car but power is enough, though that is just my personal veiw after driving the car for some time, i agree that some guys may differ on this point, but there is no space to drive ferrari power on highways also today.

FE : In city linea is giving me 12.2kmpl(measured tank ful, twice) which matched with trip meter showing 12.1 which seems quiet accurate. On highway it gave bout 16.5kmpl but not too sure.

Look wise, where ever i park or on NH8 too-every body passing makes a point to slow down and try to check out and admire. That does make my chin go high.......hahahahahaha.

Not worried about resale value any more.

sandesh

hi sandesh,

wellcome to the linea club, did you mention wether your car was a petrol or a diesel one?

i too share your views on the ownership of linea, about the resale value,no car in the indian car market today has a good resale value,my earlier car-swift lost half its value in 3 years,so it's hight time people in our country stop worrying about the resale value while pruchasing and value the car on it's merrits and make a purchase

about the badge value you mentioned,it differs from country to country, for instance SKODA hardly has any badge value in Europe but is rated and valued high in INDIA,so forget about that too,but i by the way bought this car for it's badge,i bought it without even a test drive, trusting Fiat completely and i was right

@ Sandesh, the mileage you are deriving is very decent - city & highway, both.

Dear Linea Lovers;

I took delivery of my black emotion pack petrol last week and so far the ride has been exhilarating. However i am unable to access the songs on my HTC TyTN phone even though the blue and me is paired with the phone and I am able to make and receive calls from the blue and me system. I get a message saying 'no media player' even though I have connected the phone to the USB in the glove box. I changed the phone and used my wife's Sony Ercisson W800i, but I get the same message.

Any suggestions??

i have done more than 6000 kms now in LINEA,and touchwood, the experience is amazing, the engine noise which was there initially has simply dissappeared, but still,i hear the tyre noise when the speed exceeds 80km/hr(experts,will changing the tyre brand help in removing the tyre noise,or is it with insulation?),but under 80 km speed, its simply as quite as a petrol engine,so much,so that i twice turned on the ignition in an already running engine!.about the power, the car has simply become responsive and powerfull, after say 3000kms of running, power is indeed my favourite USP in LINEA,not that i dont see any shortcomings in tha car,the awefull plastic quality!!!!,its as bad as those seen in marutis,i have only one question to FIAT,cant they use better plastics inside and add it to the price of the car?,after all would it cost them rs.5000 extra??,the car is so good,so much so that i simply wait for sundays for a long ride, even if dont have any work or purpose to go out,i do it,the pleasure of being inside the car makes me long for long hours inside the car,if only i can shift my work to the inside of the car???!!!!!!!!!

Good to read about Fiat Linea. I am also an admirer of Fiat, as I own a Palio for last 7 years and it is quite rugged and comfortable car. It gives me fuel efficiency of 10-11 in the city and up to 15 on Highway. I have maintained a full record of each fuel fill and KMs done since the day I bought on 1 July, 2002.

I too wanted to book it as my two cousins have recently bought a Fiat Linea each, but finally booked a Maruti Swift Dzire VDI, as I feel that dealer's service is an issue in case of Fiat cars, even though it has been taken over by TATA showrooms now and also the re-sale value of Fiat cars as compared to Maruti cars.

I am likely to get my car delivery by 15th August-09 and will get back on its performance soon after driving it.

hi vinod,

congrats and best wishes on your new purchase, but am really sad that you would be missing the comforts, pleasure and the luxury of a fiat car,i had bought a swift before this one for the same reason you bought dzire, but you know what,it fetched only half the money after 3 years of ownership,so resale value of not just the fiat cars, every other brand is down with a leash of new launches these days,so nowadays its the ownership experience one has to keep in mind while purchasing and thats really awesome, one is really pamperred at the fiat-tata service stations, about swift ownership,i had an awefull dreary time and how can you even compare the dzire with the linea, just compare the wheel base, lenth of the car, tyre size, you would know the difference even with out a test ride, happy motoring any ways and best wishes for your new car

Dont mind. Dzire has an awesome front seat(although the rear seat is quite the opposite Frown). Very plush. A very responsive engine. Both petrol and diesel. It is well planted on the road. Performance and FE of the car is proven anyways. The diriving pleasure it offers is not matched by any cars nearby.

PS: I am also admitting the famous shortcomings of the car like looks(it sucks), interiors etc.
