Narain Karthikeyan is the world's fastest Indian, an epithet he wears proudly. He's raced in Formula 1, and currently spearheads India's campaign in the A1 series. With massive experience in single seaters, Narain will now have the opportunity to test the ultimate Le Mans prototype - the Audi R10. Winner of the last three editions of the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans, the R10 has consistently blitzed all comers, notably Peugeot's 908, and is the first of a new breed of diesel prototypes which have revolutionised endurance racing.
Narain will drive the R10, one of two purchased from Audi by ex-Jordan and Force India principal, Colin Kolles. The test will give the team to evaluate Narain, and get some testing miles on the car. The team plans to run in the Europe-based Le Mans Series, as well as compete in the 24 Hours in June.
Said Narain, “I am very excited about this test. I have been talking to some people who have driven the Audi R10 TDI, and they all tell me that it is blindingly quick and has plenty of downforce, very similar to a Formula 1 car.”
