according to sources yeti wil be launched at delhi expo 2010 which later that year will go on sale

The new Skoda Yeti is already rolling out of its Czech plant and is ready to hit the Indian roads soon. Sources close to the project development cite that the new SUV will be showcased at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo 2010 which is country’s biggest auto show to the manufacturers and car enthusiasts. It was showcased at the Geneva Auto Show 2009 and will be available in India showrooms by early 2010, however, there is no official statement about the same from the company sources.

The new model coming for the Indian domestic market is expected to have 4WD and will have 1.8L TSI petrol engine especially tweaked for the Indian roads. The estimated price for this car is Rs. 10 lakh and will be assembled at the Aurangabad plant of Skoda Auto.

Other specifications of the Indian version of Yeti are 180 mm of clear height of a wider tyre tread, low CO2 emission values, low fuel consumption, compact 2578 mm wheel base VarioFlex rear seat system and a large luggage compartment that can be enlarged further.

Skoda’s next big launch in India is the Skoda Yeti SUV. The Yeti will be displayed at the country’s biggest occasion for car enthusiasts and manufacturers - the 2010 Delhi Auto Expo. It is expected to be priced between Rs 10-12 lakhs and would become the first SUV launched by a non-Indian auto maker in that price bracket. It would support engines ranging from 1.6-2.0L (petrol) to a 1.9L turbo diesel engine. It would definitely give a competition to the Toyota Innova, Tata Safari, Mahindra Scorpio and soon-to-be-launched Tata Indicruz.

Well....since skoda always has been proved with its inherent features as in high milage, having unique storage compartment in front and rear doors, and a tyre-pressure monitoring system.So far as i think this time this event  would accomplish its intended purpose.

I agree with you.. Superb will be good city car. The way German auto makers looking at India shows they are all set for a German invasion in Indian Automobile market. Scoda Superb is capable enough to compete any other product in this category and its worth buying the car.

The base model could be 1.2 litre FWD. FWD for an SUV, maybe the idea is to reduce its length.




I tried this and I had understeer, I tried that and I had oversteer, at the end of the corner I just ran out of talent!

The confirmed news from the sources is that Yeti is coming in Jan'09 with a 1.2 tsi engine. Its top end will be 4X4 wheel drive. The prices are between 10 - 11.5L

1.2 TSi for 10-11.5lacs??? Smells something like the JAZZ to me. Hope skoda doesnt go the Honda way especially when its image has been hit after the 'high maintenance' issues.
