Friends, is it possible to just go in for a FFE and retain the stock air filter? Would that still give a decent increase in the low end torque, required in the daily traffic conditions. I own an accent executive CNG and read somewhere that replacing teh stock filter with a K&N could give problems with vehilces running on CNG.

FFE can be used alone- no issues at all. The ECU will be able to adjust to the changed air flow with a 'performance' exhaust.

Thanks Binoy. Would you be able to suggest any good place i can get this done from (While searching for one, i could shortlist 2 of them- Performance  zone, patel nagar, delhi & Autppsyche, noida) and a tentative price that it may cost Me. Andpost doing all this, will that be really worth it, given the fact I may retain the stock air filter.

The FFE will have more of aural quality gains than outright performance gains. As the catalytic will be removed the enviornmental concerns also go for a toss.

Unable to recommend any shops as i have no experiance with them, maybe out Delhi members can help.

Thanks. So is that mandatory that the CAT gets removed as well? I had read somewhere that the CAT may be retained if one wants to. Would also like to ask you as to what do you recommend in order to get both aural as well as performance gains. I mean if i spend, i might as well spend some more to get the maximum benefits.

Retaining the CAT wont make the exhaust exactly free flow-would it?

The exhaust can be tuned for both the sound and the performance aspect-so issues there.

Thanks Binoy, got it. However, can you pls clarify some more of my doubts on the second query- is a FFE enough to give the car a decent increase in low & mid level torque or should i go in for a few additions as well along with it (K & N filter / Porting / polishing or all of them). I would admit that while I have understood the concept broadly after going through a lot of threads on these items but fail to ascertain as to what is exactly required and what is'nt.

I am not looking at making it an extreme performance machine but just to make it move seamlessly without the need of frequent gear changes- in city driving conditions and at times on the highway runs while overtaking. An added benefit of a growl (although not too loud) is always welcome.

Do the mods in steps, try the FFE first without touching the engine-if the improvement is satisfactory avoid mods to the engine par se.

Porting can be quite tricky and costly.

Translated into plain inglis, it is "FFE will change the way your car will SOUND, but it will probably work much the same way as before" (hopefully)!

This would appeal to immature kids while going to their tuition classes, not anyone else much!

This is the kicker! You may very likely fail the PUC test (Does look like no one gives a dam for it other than the certificate, so not a big concern per se)

Surely, can help, but I'm afraid this may not be much of a real 'help'.

Check out www.performancezone.co.in or write to info@performancezone.co.in. Guy's name is Yatharth Dass, and FFE would cost you INR 3.5k.

However, have a look at the FFE installation description here by Vinod who did it to his Alto. In case the FFE is not mechanically compatible to your exhaust port, a total hack job is employed, and there is not rhyme or reason to what finally goes into the mix.

Kudos to krishna for the previous post-was really entertaining to read.

Let me try the same on this.

-expertise is the prime concern as other wise the result will do more harm than good.
