Hi Friends,

Would be interesting to understand what you people think about the comparision of these cars. It would be really useful for many to make a decision on buying the appropriate car. Of course i20 is costlier and seems to have a lot of additional features, but is it worth the 60-70k that is being shelled out.

Kindly advise.

Regards

Sumit

i20 has better interiors/features, more space/comfort & better build-quality than Swift has. Boot space & rear legroom are a little disappointing in Swift.

Performance-wise, Swift is better for the driving pleasure - otherwise i20 is equally good. Though i20 delivers a little less power (7ps) than Swift, it does at lower rpms - while torque is same (1nm less) at lower rpms again.  There isn't any difference in the overall performance, as such.

Mileage of both would be at par - 11/13 in city & 15/17 on highway (depending upon the driving conditions & style).

Please have a look at this comparison between the 2 cars - go through the Specifications, Features & All Features.

Spending 50K more along with Rs.5 lac (+), is not a big deal if you plan to go for long-term ownership.

I suggest, test-drive both the cars (with family) & decide.

So Pankaj,

Looks that on the overall package level i20 scores a bit over Swift. But heard from somewhere that a 1.4 litre version of i20 can be launched anytime soon. Wouldn't that obsolete the current 1.2 litre engine? I suspect the resale value might be severely affected. Whats your opinion?

Regards

Sumit

That depends on various aspects.

But I dont think you have to be worried that much as in the case i10 both 1.1 and 1.2 are sold and they are still selling good.

Thank Ami,

But now I never think of buying the i10 Era model even if I can still consider the Magna model. So you see that has impacts. Wink

Sumit

LOLZ.

You should have put D-Lite rather than Era.

Jokes apart: You dont have to be worried about resale as the 1.2 engine is good.

As such, you shouldn't be concerned much about resale value if you plan to use the car for 5 years or so.

Go ahead.  Take a loooong test-drive.  Concentrate & feel the engine, pick-up, accelarations, handling, braking etc. etc.  Look at the interiors/features thereafter.

Come back and post/share your experience & views/observations here.

Thanks.

LOLZ...

As Pankaj said. Take an elaborate test drive. Do what all you feel like with the car(with responsibility).

Do tell us what you felt.

BTW have you taken the TD of the Swift.
