Test-drives should always be taken preferably with the family - I would strongly recommend so for Swift in particular so that you know how comfortable/uncomfortable the rear legroom is.

Sorry to respond after a long break. I did take the test drive of i20. I felt that the drive was much smoother than Santro or i10. Pick up was good and I did not face any issue too. Cannot compare it with Swift because I haven't driven it yet.

Looks wise the Asta models have some good features, but may not be worth paying the extra price, specially for Indian conditions. One thing that I did not like was the gear handle for i20 Magna. I hate the shape..

Regards

Sumit

The driving pleasure will be more in Swift - even the pickup. Please test-drive Swift (with family), as suggested before, before finalising the car.

i20 and Swift Dzire belong to two different categoris: one is a hatchback and other is a sedan. Also the budgets are varying for each one of them.

i20 belongs to premium hatchback segment and I am pretty happy with its performance. The mileage is close to 11kmpl.

Regards

Nitesh, Welcome to carwale. i20 has got lot more features than the dzire. The rear row seating in the dzire is also a bit cramped and will be difficult to accomodate 3 adults comfortably. the i20 on the other hand is spacious. The dzire has a boot but i20 doesnt. Dzire  has a 1.3L engine as compared to the 1.2L engine of the i20. Dzire has the advantage of better ASS and cheaper maintenance as it comes from maruti, not that Hyundai is far behind. if you need a sedan go in for dzire and if you need a hatch prefer the i20. HAve a look at this comparision and check the features, specs and other tabs for a clearer picture. Take a test drive before finally deciding.

Pankajji,

Driving pleasure is depends on the driver & various other factors. It is not mandatory that one should gain more pleasure driving Swift. It varies from  Individual to Individual.

I agree to Fuel Economy/Specs/Features which are unique to a particular Car/Brand. Everybody can feel/experinece the same.

Please do correct me if I am wrong.

@Netwale, for starting a new thread in Buying Section – here’s a LINK.  If you desire to start a new thread in other section, click open the relevant section > scroll down > click the tab ‘Create New Thread’.

@ Sunil, please address me Pankaj ji.

Academically speaking (nothing to agree/disagree)… Driving pleasure generally constitutes of aspects like speed, pick-up/acceleration, throttle response, adequate power, steering response, ride-quality, space/comfort etc.

In my opinion/experience (I own neither Swift nor i20), Swift scores ahead on majority of these - except ride-quality & space/comfort.

I, however, do not mean to say or have ever said that i20 is bad on these aspects - it’s good - but in relative terms, Swift is better.  All in all (interiors/features included), i20 is a better car than Swift (see my suggestions on the previous page & elsewhere too).
