.... its like a locomotive behind your rear bumper pushing you......

That's a great analogy..Really felt the same while driving Swift D.

You can live in your car, but you can't drive your house.

sure appreciate it pankaj. i dint realise the mistake i commited when replying to the thread. never be personal or provide particulars. well Im enjoying all the feedback and tons of info this thread provides and closely following it. a valid debate. guess this debate runs foremost on every hatchback buyers mind. what should I buy. the answer is if you need, performance, power, efficiency, and low running costs, and fun driving, and highway overtaking. its the diesels, be it Fiat, Maruti, Tata or hyundai. all have crdi's with intercoolers and turbos, and recent machines have very low maintainence and spread out maintainence cycles. Also I overheard a rumour that maruti's test swift diesel has done more than 8 lac kms. impressive. I'll have to be reborn to see that kind of mileage. and again Pankaj and Raj thanks for all those descriptive details and insights about diesels on the first page. very informative. Wow

its the same with ritz : I posted my reveiw elsewhere in this forum refer : http://www.carwale.com/forums/ViewThread-9463-p2.html ... I think ritz is a better family package whereas Swift is sportier and oozes adrenaelin from every curve and corner. Ritz has same mechanicals and more room being higher. and soft ride. economy diesel duel: swift vs vista vs ritz

Excellent wisdom on petrol/diesel comparison that I have never seen before. Thanks a lot guys. I have around 1000 km/permonth milage and I still decided to buy swift VDi (offcourse after thinking a 100 times). Now this thread surely is an eye opener and I have no second thought anymore. My decision is now backed up by umpteen number of facts and experiences. Thanks again.

Hey guys,

I have another point..

Do the diesel owners having a little high feeling themselves, as if their vehicle is more manly or heavy, like an elder brother feel to younger brother...!  Just a psychological superiority feel.

I dont know whether i expressed it correctly

till some extent u are correct...as petrol swift is cheaper..low on millage..and that offcourse sudden burst of power dilivery.

Hi Barath, Well its good u found your answers. And thanks for the appreciation of this thread! haha, i know, full credit to all participants of this thread but i still feel like puttin my collar up and saying--" yey ! who opened this thread afterall ! hehe.

And CarCrazy , i disagree with what Bjs said though, because no matter how heavy it would feel, this particular point would certainly NOT b the deciding factor for a Petrol-Vs-Diesel.

Cheers !

Amazing Thread., hats off to Raj, pankaj & Karan for making this thread a master piece.,

today is makar sankranti & i was about to book Tata manza Saffire aura+(petrol), this is the same engine as swift petrol., but now after reading this whole thread on petrol bashing & i am confused to the core.

my usage of car would be 1000 km per month., & two months in a year am in US.,  can i park manza diesel for two months & still will be ok?  what about vibrations in diesel car after 2-3 years.

Experts., please please please just tell me what should i go for.,  This is an SOS..,  please help. before today morning.,

There's nothing to worry - absolutely.

Diesel Manza is a much better car than Petrol Manza - engine/performance.

The two cars dont share the petrol engine, they are different. As Pankaj has suggested the diesel engine is much superior to the petrol counterpart. So go ahead and book the car!

Thankyou Pankaj & Binoy.,

Guess what i went to concorde bangalore & it was closed for makar sankranti (tata a semi govt company)., & tomorrow is solar eclipse so will probably go on saturday for booking.,

one more question though.., I have heard many people complaining about clutch getting harder on diesel engines & are painful in traffics?  is that true?  if not sooner but definitely after one to two years? just trying to stretch the question., sorry.

also heard a new piece of info that Fiat has stopped providing the swift engines/technology to Maruti & Swift soon will be in trouble? irrelevant here but just wanted to share.,  probably you guys know this already! not sure.
