Karan,

Agree that 99% of us wont giv it a thought abt which is a better fuel.

But, wont atleast say 70% them think abt the savings that they get, going for a diesel car.. food for thought isnt it?

well exactly Sathya,

when it comes to savings, the number wont be 70%i think it'll be 99!

that is exactly wat my initial question is-I mean, try to tell me mor reasons why people are buying more of Swift Diesels than Swift Petrols,(excluding the fuel rates and the saving reason)

And talking about the Pollution problem being taken care off, excess of Diesels did have problems in the Metro's,(as the govt claims),which was later said to be cleared by the use of CNG (which ofcourse has different different dis-advantages which may not be needed to discuss).

cheers !

I am a 1.3 MJD(dzire) diesel owner. There were three reasons for buying the car(apart from the need for a large boot.

1) in gear acceleration and the turbo boost at 2K

2)in gear acceleration and the turbo boost at 2K

3)in gear acceleration and the turbo boost at 2K

LOL!

LoLs.  But you would agree to the previous discussions as well. Right?

If you translate this into layman's language, that was my reason to own a Swift Dzire having diesel engine.Wink

@Binoy,hehe nice way to put it up (and infact sum it up!)

But whats in gear-acceleration?also about the Turbo Boost, ultimately the Swift Diesel will lose to the Swift PEtrol if they have a race.(it has been discussed before in some other thread, very recently.

@Rajesh,exactly,so in that way you agree with me ,that the Swift Diesel is ONLY for the saving Purposes.

Raj....ok...lets just consider ...Diesel is a better fuel than petrol....n terms of purity, cleanliness etc etc....

bt wud that matter to us while buying out car ?....honestly.....90 % wont giv a thought abt it .....

n out of the rest 10 %,9 % wud b lying !....

even if Diesel was more more harmful to the environment....it wud hav been used....due to the saving (talkin abt India ONLY ofcourse)..

p.s-----i m not trying to disagree wid ur points...infact that is a very good piece of info that u've given me ..

it nice to kno,n u seem to b reading alot abt Diesel

cheers !

@Karan, please refrain from using SMS language (but / wud / giv / n / b / wid / ur /u've / kno / n / abt   ) and those dots (....) here & there. Thanks.

Thats true dude but, everybody should take their share to protect the environment and use LESS fuel whether its Diesel/Petrol.  If we are not environment conscious then we are ruining our future.

More awareness about environment is required and everybody has to do their part to protect and enjoy.

just my 2 cents

But whats in gear-acceleration?also about the Turbo Boost,

in-gear acceleration

-car is driven in single gear(any 1st till 5th) and the time required to cover specific speed intervals like 40kmph to 80kmph is noted-this is what happens in the real world-like when driving in the city or on the highway.

0-100kmph is very theoretical(except maybe at traffic lights-there also not till 100!).

-in this regards the swift/dzire diesel is a real performer and i dont think many cars can come close to them.

Turbo-boost

-the swift diesel uses a turbo charger which kicks in at 1800-2000RPM-the car just takes off from there and the experiance is exhilarating!

Over a long distance you cant say as it depends on the driver. Wink

Diesel will have the advantage of much higher torque.  Besides, while the top speed is same, power (little less) & torque (much higher) in diesel is delivered at much lower rpms than in petrol.

Driving skills, of course, matter the most - even otherwise.
