Nope. I am planning to buy around mid Jan so will be TD'ing it around then. Also, the dealership close to my place has shut down now. So, I've been lazy in not wanting to go too far. Tongue out

@ ankur,

laura is a handsome looking car with very good performance. but only it is that its maintainance is high & with the base model u dont get that much of features. its l&k is best but ambiente is ok on features list.

if u like it, its offcourse a good buy.

but i would like to suggest u one more option that is the optra magnum diesel. it is one of the best diesel car & u will get its LT model cheaper than the laura ambiente with more features. it is more powerful than the laura & more spacious & comfortable too. & its suspensions are one of the best & on our type of roads it is very good, it takes all types of roads with very ease & it is a car that ull love to drive.

in LT model u get airbags, abs, in dash 6cd changer which plays mp3 & all, leather seats, climate control a/c & much more.

just check out this car for once & do take a test drive & than decide.

if u would be going with the laura l&k than i would not had suggested magnum for u, but u r planning for laura ambiente, i think magnum LT is better than it.

& at present chevrolet is offering 3yrs cashlesh ownership offer in which u have to pay nothing to maintain ur car for next 3 yrs. it includes regular servicing & wear & tare parts also. only accidental works are not included in it.

it is a value for money car. just have a look at it once.

u r from which city?

Deepam,

Nicely written. It looks out to be a good option.

However Laura will be a class above optra be it ambiete/l&k. (My personal View)

@ ameen,

ya if u compare class wise than laura would be one step higher than the optra but only just a single step & optra also comes in the octavia league. laura is a very good car with l&k version but with ambiente is not just that well putted up.

just for comparison, u do checkout the magnum LT & laura ambiente practically not on the papers & than see which is better.

I think you have to pay something additional for Cashless Offer at the time of purchase of the car.  I mean, the price of the car with Cashless Offer & without Cashless Offer is different.  Or may be, if you go for the car without Cashless Offer, there's some reduction/discount in the price of the car.

@Deepam,

My point was based on class and class alone.

Features and everything match. On paper I would say that optra magnum is a better car as it has almost all the features are 2-3L less. Optra has more power and is torquier. I have not and wont debate on these points.

A small yet huge point: Imagine yourselves emerging from Optra and Laura. Just take a comparison on the impact. Laura takes a clear lead. Laura makes a huge difference in impact.

This segment it is all about Class.

Optra in comparison with Octavia is fine.(Although I wont accept). Optra with laura Nah..........

@ pakaj,

at present the coo offeres comes included in the onroad price & if u dont take that offer than u get 20k discount.

& ameen,

yes u r right but when we are spending so much money we must compare all options & see which is better, class matters but with one class lower u pay less & get more.

a practical buyer will always compare & will buy which is better, even optra contains its class & when one steps out from the optra we do observe it.

even octavia l&k offers much more than the laura ambiente.

& car lovers like us when we see any one stepping out of his car we do observe the car & the model also for eg- if octavia than is it rider, ambiente, elegance or l&k. & our views differ when one steps out of octavia rider & differ when some one steps out from the octavia l&k.

certain models provide certain class.

this is my observation. our views may differ.

for eg- take ur case, u go & see the magnum LT & go & see the laura ambiente, test drive them & than do tell which one did u feel better & where u would spend ur hard earned money.

just think that u want to buy a car between these two & keeping it in mind go & have a detailed & practical comparison. & than do tell ur views.

Bingo!!!!

We being petrol heads would observe even osbserve the alloys used and sometimes even the tyre.

My personal choice: I was bowled over by the power of optra magnum. I was like is this a diesel car. I like it even better than octavia. So I would save money and take an optra. Plus the car is more youthful which suits my image more than laura. If I come out from laura ppl will be like 'ayye'. Wink. Not that I am bad, but I dont have that 'thing' in my to carry/flaunt a Laura.

For a normal onlooker : optra is below 10L car and skoda is an above 10L car(generalised statement). That makes the difference. Finer points like version etc is not noticed by common public.

IMO PPL fish out extra cash just to have that extra impact. Although there is a better features and equipped car like optra magnum available.

true,

but i think optra & octavia are compared similarly & except the 1.6ltr optra the diesel & 1.8 (now discontinued) are above 10lac cars. infact the magnum LT comes near about 12 lacs.
