Let us think like this!

Now any person irrespective of his intentions have the information that KL01 AT 5649 is a Swift Desire car and it belongs to a Doctor named Binoy Thomas who is a pediatrician in Trivandrum. Without that post with photo this information is available to people in trivandrum only, but now it is available worldwide.( or at least to all 'car mafia' in INDIA).

Somebody use a White Swift Desire in Bombay or Calicut  for any illegal purpose and left a forged RC book registered with one Dr.Binoy Thomas.(Address  may be wrong but still you will get at least a call from Police). So you can be in trouble. The case wont hold ,I will agree,But why we expose ourselfs to such a possibility? Such remote chances may be the reason behind those warnings.

I use Dr.Binoys case to prove my point beacuse Doctors are soft and reputed targets. See the advertisements about 'used Doctors car'. It is supposed to be well maintained and less prone to rough handling (Generally!). So is the owner!

We cant live or express ourselfs in current world if we are too carefull about all aspects. LIke staying in home in holidays to avoid accidents is safe but not practcal.

I had also posted my number plates. Life itself is a risky affair! But we are facing it anywayWink

Thanks

Another possibility

A black ford ikon bearing a number KL40B 5610 purposefully  hit a political activist and kills him in Mancherry and escapes without halting. Anybody who can arrange a Black Ford ikon for one day (Who visits carwale) can do it. Using genuine Registration details will serve the purpose of criminals by providing a decoy target to divert attention and provide them with time to manuever.

Now it is Roy's turn and obligation to prove that on that particular day me and my car was in Cochin. The local police will enjoy the show on my behalf!

How is my imagination? Embarassed

In all the cases the police will say "We do agree that you or your car is not involved, but since from the thousands of vehicles here how those guys got your vehicles information? it is obvious that the criminals somehow know you. So you must co operate to locate and nab them". A simple post and a  photo, we lost time, peace of mind and surely since it is a police issue; Money! Suppose you told them terms like internet, carwale, forum, online discussion; suddenly they will turn hostile to this 'hi-tech' suspectSurprised

For them Posting pictures on the internet is a 'classified' show. Normally used for college girls 'exposure'. Suddenly you became a guy who used some internet sites for chatting and get into trouble. So you must pay, in cash or suffering.

I think Enough!Laughing

Thanks

Good thinking Roy, these are possibilities and may happen in real life. Let us take this risk till the criminals in India turn technically advanced Smile (and cops too).

This pseudo number problem is happening day by day here which concerns only the police and the real R.C owner even without any posts in net. Our police is not so serious now for your (being a gentle man) registration number being used by a criminal. Sure, there will be some enquiry.

Roy, Great way to stress the privacy issue. I had warned about it on the numerology thread quite recently.

Indian crooks are too busy picking low hanging fruits, but it will not be long before info sources like this will be exploited for personal gain or mischief by them. In the western world this problem has gone to epidemic proportions and they are paranoid about it. All TV programs from the west have car numberplates masked.

I think it would be a good idea fo go back this and a couple of other threads where such info has been posted, and scrub it so that we are sure it is safe. (Mods:..Any possibility?)

PS: Using real data in your post for illustration was also on the wrong footing, if I am allowed to say so...

Oops!! Binoy, saw your OT alert a bit too late.. Sorry for the post, feel free to delete / move as you see fit.

I also felt the same eventhough it was late. But I did so because I felt (?) without that real data, it is very difficult to get the message pass through.

Sorry, but I got the point.

It was indeed an OT but meaningful. It all started from a confusion (post #33)** Anyway!!

We may avoid that in future & may create new threads for the purpose. Thanks.

** mainly because I posted a clarification at post #40 (on the queries raised). So, it's my fault Foot in mouth

Edit: Footnote (**) appended subsequently.

need of the hour is thread merging and bifurcation. Ban, please help. Many meaningful discussions are stopped only because they are OT.

You guys really rock me with all this information. In the first place I am novice to the car field and the driving…

In two days we will be putting an order for Indigo-CS-LX. Is it possible for me to add this accessory to my car’s back?

If so where should I place ità Center or sides.

Can any one suggest some low budget reverse guard, need not have any camera and all, but if it can some how make me ware of the distance  that will be enough.

Thank you.

Regards,

Raghu
