I haven't seen or used this thing called Reverse Guide.
I have read in some posts about this.
Understand that  costs around 3k to 3.5k.

Is it really useful or only a luxury for namesake?.How we can 'see' the back areas. It shows distance,But in which part? All tail part? Could anybody give some brief description about use?
Even after installing it, should we have to break the neck to park in a narrow slot?

What will be the mounting difficulties if any in a Ikon?
Thanks
Roy

Costs range from 2.5K to 3K for good systems(Xenos a subunit of Pricol makes the best among them).

Having used it for the past 2.5 months i can without doubt say that it is very useful.

How is works?

-sensors are drilled into the rear bumper-the number of sensors are left to the buyers choice-4 is ideal.

-the reading from each of these sensors are shown individually on a LED/LCD screen fitted on the dash or over the IRVM-there are audible alarms also which change in the beep frequencies as the distance decreases.

-it covers the entire rear section and in my car even a bit of the side(this depends on how the side sensors are installed).

-after installing the system the ORVM and the display is all that is needed to park the car.

-there are no mounting difficulties at all - only that the new bumper will have to be drilled!

-costlier models come with a camera-prices start from 6.5K

Hope this pic  will guide you.  The display is shown in IRVM.  There is indication in the mirror as to which side is having obstacle.  Also I have seen sensors fitted in front bumper. But as per the user it is creating problems while  having bumper to bumper drive in city when  we park close to the vehicles or some pedastrians cross our car in front, it starts beeping. The reverse sensor is activated only when we put the reverse gear.

@Benoy
             Thanks for the detailed briefing. More than clear! Decided to go for a piece like this. No camera supported costly units are intended for the time being.This will do the purpose.
@Feroz
         Thanks Feroz. I am planning only on the back side. Thanks for the picture.I got a clear idea about the system.

Thanks again.   Will fit a Xenos system with indicator on IRVM on my Car.

thats good

only that i would advice the outer sensors(as in Feroz's) car to be placed a little more to the sides(laterally)-outside the red deflectors to cover the corners also.

I have checked the performance of the outer sensors. Due to the curvature of the bumper it is covering side portions of the car also. A distance of 0.4 m at the corner is exactly shown in IRVM as that in centre which safely covers the corners too.

If you are planning to have LCD monitor with your ICE set up an additional camera will also serve the purpose. It is cheap--about 1000. Also we will get an actual view. Sensors raise false alarms even if the obstacle is grass or cloth. Also only one hole is needed to be drilled in the bumper.

This is the display of IVRM where an obstacle is at .5m on the rear right side of the car. Sorry for the shaky picture.

One thing I've noticed about the camera is that it is useless in the dark.

Installing a camera only wont help as there wont be any info on distance nor will there be any proximity warning.

By the way this is what is done in my car:

the outwardly spaced sensors detect movement from the corners-like people walking across the rear of the car-also the separation from the middle sensors are better with this distance in my experience.

the display is a ;hybrid' of the pure LED in Feroz's setup and a LCD-so the individual sensors are displayed at once(there by showing the inactive ones also)
