Problem with Toyota Corolla Altis

I purchased Toyota Corrola Altis (1.8GL). From the third day of my purchase), I started noticing the noise while breaking on the very low speed. I talked to the dealer and I was told that they will fix it on the first 1000 KM service as it is not a critical issue.

Today, on my first 1000 KM inspection, I reminded the dealer about it and they claim to have fixed it. However, I noticed that they replaced my three shockers (based on ther invoice record given by them).  Hence, I checked with them on what was the issue. Reluctantly, one of their technician told me that there seems be a list of 2000 cars with dealers where there was this issue reported by TKM and these Cars were reported to have the issue with the shockers. The breaking noise was an outcome of this issue. Though, I am told that my car has been fixed. However, I am not sure if this is correct. I am yet to see any notification by Toyota on this (recall of part).

Can someone help me with this situation. Is this a known issue. I guessed Toyota is known for the Good Quality and thats the reason I did not wait long after the product launch before purchase of my new car. Please help. Any response is highly appreciated.

Regards,

Jaideep

This is something new-but recalls are quite common and as the issue has been solved i dont think there is any reason for worry.

I had the same problem with my new altis as well. When I showed it in the workshop, they told that it is the rusted break pads and the disk. I had to leave the car for 2 hours and they opened front two wheels and cleaned the disks and pads. Now the problem is solved. My car has done only 350 kms as of now. I got the job done yesterday.

Dear Yogesh, If you are sure, they did not replace your shockers, I  would recommend to keep a close eye on the issue.  Thanks for your response though !

Ansh, I purchased 1.8GL and so far, I am very happy with Altis. As of now I have clocked approx. 1000 KM and one word response to experience is AWSOME ! It make many heads turn while on the road.

As far as Car is concerned, everything other than the breaking problem is good. Moreover, I am sure Toyota have fixed this issue now.  If you bargain hard, you will get a small discounts (I got it worth approx. INR 4K). However, the dealer experice is a BIG letoff for me. They simply spoilt the charm of purchasing new car. I have approached Toyota and they are working on it. So if you are planning a car from Grace Toyota, I will advise you to please think ten times ! They just don't know the meaning of Customer Satisfaction, their Customer Relationship manager proudly says we have just TWO dissatisfied customers out of 100 customers so far and to me this is a poor rate considring we are talking about Toyota.

Jaideep, they only cleaned the disk and pads, but the noise has again come back after two days. For two days it was not there. I will be going for a check again in a day or two. How could the shockers be the reason for brakeing noise.

Well I felt that the noise doesn't come with more than 2 people in car so very well could be the reason as you said. Is the problem in your car totally solved?
