We did a fair bit of running around for this one, but we got it done - here you go, the Jetta road-test, both petrol and diesel.

Comments, suggestions and queries are welcome.

VW are now catching up here in India - hope these two cars do well.

Lovely reviews - covering all the aspects beautifully. Thanks.

I shud really appreciate the work you guys have doen it was simply mindblowing!

Now  comming to VW Jetta , the car isnt as impressive as it was expected and furthur they priced it a bit high , petrol Jetta is nowhere as impressive as the Altis or the Civic!

hey good job done by u guys but i feel that petrol jetts is not a worthy buy when compared to civic & the altis as it has no main features also like automatic ac, electronic seats & all & is just a 1600cc engine compared to 1800cc of civic & altis & i feel altis & civic much better than the jetta petrol.

for diesel again it is good but felt laura much better as it has more features at almot same price with same engine & performance.

with volkswagen pricing the jetta almost the same as the laura, it has a competitor in its own family & that too a strong contender.

Excellent road tests!

Two suggestions:

a)    In the Specs chart, if possible include 30-80kmph roll on figures(both in 3rd and 4th gear)-as it gives a better idea about real world driveability.

b)   The orientation of come of the photos in the gallery are not corrected like this one

Clarification - fuel mileage figures-are they available?

About the cars - the 1.9 topspeed is 165kmph - thats hatch back territory!

Sri Vsh, Deepam: I think they're saving the ClimaControl for the TSI when they launch it, else no one will buy it. The petrol may seem like an underperformer, but it's got enough speed for the normal person. It just isn't enough for us ;)

@Binoy: Thank you for pointing out the images. They're being corrected right now.

We follow the roll-on figures we do because they're international standards. They do give you a fair enough idea of real-world driveability, try it out and keep an eye on the tacho

The fuel efficiency figures aren't available at this point of time, unfortunately, because of the circumstances in which we tested them. However, we're keeping this in mind and you should have a figure sometime in the future.

And isn't top speed academic? Even the Veyron/Ultimate Aero TT/GT9 can't achieve their top speeds on public roads. That said, that's the speed we achieved, which may not be the top speed the car is capable of on an empty airfield runway...

@ Charles , i would also prefer you to have a big gorup test and bring in the laura Diesel and the Sonata Embera and have a big group test with the Jetta Diesel , it would really be helpful for new car buyers as well as others can compare everything with pics from A - Z!

Also would prefer you to have an Overview Page in the beiging along with the Introduction! i mean the Quick stats like Fuel Economy , 0 - 100  , Power , pros n cons ( which is already there )

Also would like to add one more thing , i personally feel that it wouldbe better that if all were in one page! coz one can just go on scrolling down  , i mean leave a 3 - 4 line space and continue it down itself , it would be nice, also the backgorund needs to be improved a bit! and also i would like to see you guys rating the car on every espect and the overall rating , i mean through star out of 5 or 10! rest everything is Awsome ( TEST and PICs followed by report)

Sri

Good suggestions! We'll be implementing them soon enough, I think

Group tests are in the pipeline, but lots of things have to fall into place for them to be executed. However, if a comparo does fall into our laps, you can be sure we'll grab the opportunity with both hands!

Can i assume that the reading are from a GPS based telemetry system(like a V-Box)- if so getting the 30-80kmph readings will also be a push of the button away. 10kmph incremental roll-on do provide a lot of info but IMHO the wider roll on(30-80) will provide a lot more info on the power delivery over a wider, if not full RPM range.(these figures are quotes by the standard mag tests).
Just a suggestion-not all reviews provide these info-but we could and be the better for it.

Thank you for looking into the suggestions(from everyone)- as it gives a sense of 'belonging' here at Carwale!
