again from personal experience i beg to differ-again right Pankaj.

i guess i know why this difference- ABS come into for mostly during 'spirited driving' and i guess you are a Very safe and sedate driver!

Right Binoy, I remember.  But that was on whether utility of ABS is more or of Air Bags - you favoured ABS & I Air Bags.  But honestly, it helps when we differ & its fun too.

And, you are right, I'm (now) a very safe & sedate driver.  I seldom drive above 90 - even on express highways.  But, by the way, I'm a very good driver too - I drive very steadily & am still able to cover almost 70 kms per hour (non-express highways) with the required no. of breaks/stoppages.

On ABS, let me clarify... I have never said that ABS doesn't help (even in our earlier discussion).  What I have said is that it is basically required for wet & hilly areas.  If one can afford, there's absolutely no harm in going for such safey features - it may help some day (God forbid the situation).

Yes now i remember, guess it was a couple of months back. Lets hope that laws are amended(as in the developed countries) were both Airbags and ABS are mandatory.

And.... leaving no scope for us to discuss/differ ;-)

Jokes apart, that will take some time before it comes through.  As such, as we know, ABS & Air Bags are not as uncommon as they used to be initially.  Gradually, manufacturers have started providing these features in more no. of cars.  Hope that spreads faster, and to smaller cars too.

@ binoy, as i have heard & seen ABS (antilock braking system) means when u brake hard the wheels doesnot get lokced & the car stops in the position u brake & doesnot skid or move out of the place, yes it reduces the braking period also, but it helps otherwise also & not only period is concerned. with ABS if u r doing a corner & u brake hard there are very less chances or no chances of ur car geting out of the place.

u can also check ur facts.

Deepam please dont interpret 'your experiences' as the 'end all of all discussion. If you have any reference its more than welcome. Now what you are confused with is between ABS and EBD whi ch are two different applications of the single fundamental principal.

Have a look at this and this.

Please dont be counter productive by snubbing all those round with out even considering their point of view.

It's okay - it happens sometimes. We are all learning.  Let's enjoy it - nothing personal.

Cheer up, please. Thanks

I would only say, like before, that it's okay - it happens sometimes.

But, without being personal, I would add here in general (no offence meant to anyone).... It is not necessary for everyone to know everything - we all are learning.  I've personally accepted  in my post/s openly that I wasn't aware of so & so thing, and that, I'm learning etc. etc. And there's nothing to be ashmed of it (at least I don't feel).  The fact is, I knew very little when I joined the forum but in due course of time, I learned quite a few things (& am still learning) - thanks to the forum & the fellow-members.

Besides, it would be inappropriate of us to expect others to respond in the way we would have done (if we were him).  We all cannot be like-minded - it's, in fact, good for the forum ;-)

So, Binoy & Deepam, please take things in the right perspective & cheer-up.  Thanks again
