Hi,

The Auto unit will be working when the Engine is switched OFF and will be OFF when the Engine is started. So it is NOT directly connecting the Unit to the battery . It needs another sense wire from the Ignition so it is connected to the Ignition system.

I went through the brochure...and understood the Operation ..

Maser has so many model and all other models are for Indoor application and all are working on the same principle..

There is no compulsion to interface the unit with the ignition.  You can bypass the same and connect the positive and negative of the unit to the positive and negative of the battery.  However, if you choose to do so then you need to have a standalone switch on the dashboard of the car which needs to be switched on if you want to turn on the equipment.

Maser has done this type of an installation for one of its customers in coimbatore.

The interfacing of the unit with the ignition is provided to benefit the customer wherein the unit turning on  is event based i.e. it automatically turns on when the car is switched off

@Senthil Kumar   @Shankar Iyer

Very nice technical discussion. I had also called to the the sales person of Maser India he confirmed it can be used both ways that is in auto mode and optional ON/OFF switch.

Now the thing is that how effective is the instrument?. Maser dosent have concrete user feedback. They havent tested it on live mice. In such situation should we try to install the instrument on our cars? Investing 3.5K for protection of valuable car is good??

The other thing which I found on their website is they recommend to attach the instrument away from engine. Why?? Dose the ultrasonic waves damage the Engine/ECU or any other components?

Request Carwale experts to share your views.

Hi,

I have spoken to Maser and have asked them to share their customer feedback.  Lets see if they send it.  Also, their marketing guy was mentioning that the equipment doesn't damage the engine or any other accessories or parts.  Its just that its a electronic gadget and should be kept away from the engine due to the heat from the engine.

I think the investment would be worth it. We can speak to Maser and ask them for a group discount if a few of us decide to buy one each.

Subject: customer feedback of auto model rat repellant

Dear Sir,
following is the feedback of the auto pest repellant I had purchased 4 to 5
years ago:

Prior to installing the electronic pest control unit, my vehicle wiring was
regularly eaten by rats. This is a common problem in my residential
building.
After installing the maser pest repellant, my wiring has been safe ever
since, I also find that no stray dogs sleep near my vehicle.

Thanking You,

Rats again Yell

I was away from car for a week. Came back & got hands on the car today. Whooosh... AC/ Fan not working. there are 3 spots on Passenger side front seat covers where the art leather seat cover upper layer was chewed & the foam type softer layer (which is under the skin) is visible. Went to TASS. Inspected & as expected rats have damaged the wiring. Only AC/ Fan wiring seems to have got damaged but you never know. Had to leave the car at TASS. I guess they'll have to remove the dashboard to check & repair the entire wiring. From tom I'm again out of town for entire week. They'll give me the estimate tomorrow which is expected to be 3-4K Yell.

Last time expense rs. 900 + this rs. 3-4 K = around 4-5K rats have costed me.

This is inspite of the spray I was using inside the bonnet before I left. Another guy at TASS advised me to tie 4-5 tobacco packats (with holes for smell to come out). shall try that as well.

Anymore ideas?

Ask the TASS people to block the place from where rat enters. It may be from fender side or from underneath the boot where small hole is given. That was the case with my old Indica & my local mechanic had solved this problem by doing so.

Hi

In my opinion It is better to have a stand alone Electronic Rodent repellent and  wire it in the Portico  ( or keep it near the Car ), switch is on in the Night.. It is cheep  and we can somehow verify whether the unit is working or Not..

There are strict Quality control, and reliability requirement for the Electronic components used in the Automobiles. It needs different qualification requirement if it goes in the Dash board and it has  to meet  Vary high Reliability standard if it goes under the bonnet , as the temp, humidity and vibration are more..

I doubt whether Maser has any reliability certificate  to prove that it meets the Automobile Industry requirement ..

There is No way for us to confirm  functioning of the auto unit ,  or if it stopped due some reason ..,
