finaly I have some relife by covering individual electrical wires by thin stainless steel wire mesh which is available at hardware shop. This has eliminated acess  to wiring and problem avoided.

That's going to heat up your insulation from outside and will also create a conducting layer outside the insulation. Bad idea.

Eating in the car is bad car-culture.

Rats are incredibly good at figuring out where food is, incidently they step...I mean chew...on the wires

Oh my God!

Here are the full stories of rat rage. I thought I am the only suffering from this. In my opinion, rat trap is useful only to capture the rats, which are already present inside the car. At the same time the smell of food (in trap) may invite some more rats from outside. Using a rat cake is simillar to above situation plus the problem of dead rat inside car (bad smell).

I wish to install any instrument that will prevent rats form entering in to car. Mainly rats may have entered through engine compartment so the instrument to be installed in there.

Have checked the site www.maserindia.com. They have product named Auto model for installation under bonnet. This seems to be a probale solution. Hence lodged enquiry to them. Members also can check the broucher of product

Shall revert back after getting cost & technical details

FrownEating in car is definately a bad habit. That calls the rats

Another thing you guys can do. Car wash with shampoo and thenafter sprinkle perfume. Generally Rats travel by the side of wall at night. And they follow that track by smell. Washing was good in my case as when I think about it and did it at night, next morning there was no sign of Rat. I used Room freshner and I sprinkle the same on Tyres & Engine too.

Use a Rat trap like one I used successfully. Cought 14 in that Trap!Laughing

Hi Rajiv,

The rat trap will not stop the rats movement or  if the rats found that your car  smells better then that will prefer to taste the wire  rather  than  what you had placed on the trap..

I had found another Ultrasonic Rodent repeller  connected to 230V Mains. This can be placed  near Car to avoid rats entering in the car …

Need feedback from members..

As per the site of Maser Electronics, the principle of operation of these equipments is the bouncing effect of sound waves which in turn builds the sound pressure so that the rodents leave the area being protected.  If you place the unit outside the car i.e. in an open area then the very principle of operation will not be in force and I doubt whether there will be any reduction in rodent infestation inside the car.

Hi

The principle of operation is generating high frequency sound waves which the rats do NOT like. It is NOT building up of Sound pressure The model( Varna)   indicated is for indoor Purpose. I assume , as long as if we avoid water spilling on this device we can keep this near or under the Car .

the cost quoted on teh web is  Rs.1149.

The maser model is specially for car and need to fix it inside the bonnet and that need wiring etc..Bu the other model does NOT need any disturbance in the car wiring .

Hi,

No additional wiring needed.  The wires are provided on the unit itself.  They just need to be interfaced with the battery.  Please ask for a product brochure from Maser for their Auto Model.  I believe that will clear all your doubts.  I got the principle of operation from Maser Electronics Sales Executive when I called the board line.  I would request you to call and check if you get the same information.  Thanks.

Regards,

S.Iyer.
