I don't think we can do much about it.  Safe parking & daily cleaning/maintenance do help in keeping rats/snakes (rare case) away.

I think the best option is to keep rat traps and also tobacco inside bonnut. Also i closed 2 opening from the bonut to the cabin using crushed newspaper.

I had tried rat poison cakes but it was not effective. Rats used to finish of the cakes daily and come back to eat more of cakes the next day

I leave them near other cars Wink

Jokes apart, I empty the trap at a distance in bushes (3 rats caught until now).

It is better you kill them. Easy way is to immerse the trap in a bucket of water after a catch. I think even Maneka Gandhi will not object it (no offence meant).

LoL.  That's a good one.

Yes, I accept - rats should be killed.  Will have to wait till another one gets in to my car - I wish it doesn't - for mutual benefit Laughing

I got this info in email
Web Site : www.ratocop.com
Ratocop is designed using specialized sensor modules to detect presence of rats, mice, squirrels and other Rodent species which are likely to enter into Cars and other vehicles through openings beneath the bonnet and damaging wires and other parts of the engine.
Ratocop detects the slightest presence of any rats and mice in the engine area and creates random vibrations and noises similar to engine ignitions, hence the rodent is scared away due to irritation and fear assuming the vehicle to have started, thus giving the rat no chance to damage the wiring’s and fittings of the car.
This device will be automatically switched "ON" & “OFF” The entire installation is done by connecting only two wires to the car battery, without tampering any original wires of the car
this is NOT available in bangalore. I asked the company and they said the following:
  • 1200 for the ratocop
  • Courier charges to be borne by you (will be shipped from Bombay)
  • NO dealer in Bangalore
  • 200 for installation charges
  • You have to install yourself, they will give a link from where you can get instructions (200 charges for what then???)

Cheers Laughing

Thanks for sharing the info/link.  The ratocop link doesn't open directly - you need to click open the tab Ratocop Details.
