Toyota, which is currently running on poor sales as they have no new car available that can liberate sales. Toyota will start off with the new toyota corolla sedan soon. Toyota, on seeing Honda launching the Honda Civic hybrid, plans to bring the famous Prius hybrid sedan. This step has been taken as an answer to the high fuel prices and to support the "eco-friendly" tag.

Eco-friendly tag just remains so, its not so eco tolerant as in studies it has been proved that the carbon foot print of the batteries in these cars out weigh the mileage benefits!!

Only if they can price it well, and not like honda, then someone can think of buying. Otherwise it will remain for the sake of range

After Honda Civic hybrid now it is Toyota to think green. I also read in

it is nice to know that the car manufacturers are rolling out eco friendly cars.

As such (by the way), hybrid cars have not been very successful here in India.

I think it is because of price issue. They mostly come in CBU route. Which makes it quite costly. I think the govt should start giving tax cuts to these green cars.

eg: When Honda Hybrid price was reduced, ppl just flocked to buy the same.
